Default G Force !

Hi Canoners,

Can advice on which to get, Gitzo G1227-(CF) or G1228(CF) or G2228-(explorer).
Use for 70-200mm & 300mm f4 w TC.

Which is the least expensive, is this store at KT or TK cheaper than cathay ? Thanks !

the proven gitzo explorerer series can most lenses including those you mentioned. its the ballhead that is next in question.

The huge price difference shaves off about 300g between Carbon Fiber and aluminium. Other factors inlcude height and number of sections, both of which is a matter of ergonomics and preference, so important that you try.

I am using the 2228 bought from a Cathay promo at ~$360. Nice for a 1.7m 63kg, and I prefer the solid aluminium feel. YMMV.

I go for the G1228... got mine in HK, which goes around SGD600+ after conversion, and if not mistaken, Cathay iz selling for SGD850++

CF does make a difference, and if you are talking about heavy load, AL is gonna be heavy. But well, if it's stationary in the studio most of the time, den get the AL... if you wanna hog it around, I seriously advise a CF tripod...

Basalt would be slightly cheaper than CF I guess. Weights about the same.
