Default Trip down memory lane - Swiss Cottage Sec

Any SCSS people here?

Tried to take some pics of our old Dunearn Road campus, but without much success. Nonetheless, the pics are here at http://www.pbase.com/synapseman/scss

Click on each pic for further captions. Please leave a comment also. Thanks!

Hi synapseman

Thanks for sharing your gallery on SCSS. I was not from SCSS but I did do my wood work and metal work classes there back in 1981 and 1982.

Ah, so were you from SJI or Catholic High? I know these schools had their technical studies lessons at SCSS.

I was from ACS. Used to eat the prawn noodles in the SCSS canteen after technical lessons before walking down to ACS for afternoon session. I was then in Sec 1 and 2. Still remember that the blue apron that we had to buy for the technical classes!

Any idea whether schools are still conducting techical classes? I enjoyed the technical classes at SCSS. It was real fun working with the tools!

Oh yes, ACS too! There are some schools that offer Technical Studies up to O-Levels, but I think since the early 90s, many schools started to have computer studies in place of it. I don't think there's such a thing as a "Technical Centre" (or a Pre-U centre) anymore.

And I totally remember the blue apron, too!

Yup, they painted it over. I had a love-hate deal with that painting. I thought it was hideously fugly, but yet, I was also very upset to see it painted over. The Swiss Art Centre name was there for a very long time after SCSS moved out, but lately I couldn't find it. Maybe I've not been looking hard enough.
