Has anyone tried using Zigview (a Digital Angle Viewfinder) with IR filter fitted on? If it works, taking picture with IR will have real-time preview.
I have tested zigview with a remote control, and I can see bright IR beam from Zigview LCD. I don't own an IR filter, not sure if it works on it. Any feedback will be appreciated. Maybe, if any volunteer wants to test this, we can arrange for meetup. |

err, i dun think it works this way, you still have to let your DSLR open its shutter then you can view... the zig view is just viewing off the mirror reflection instead of the actual readout from the CCD/CMOS.

DCA is correct, whatever you can't view from your viewfinder, you won't be able to view with the Zigview - the Zigview uses a mini lens which captures whatever you see in your viewfinder.

I thought our eyes can't see IR light, but Zigview's cmos/ccd can see? That is why I can't see the IR light transmit from a TV remote control, but I can see it thru the Zigview LCD.
![]() Similarly, we can't see the IR light from the viewfinder with IR filter on, but Zigview should be able to see it. Correct me if I'm wrong. |

Don't think your aperture is bright enough for the Zigview to capture.

which makes it easier to shoot IR, rather than composing then screwing on the IR filter, or shooting blindly ![]() |

Theoretically, you should be able to get the IR preview on the ZigView (I don't have one, so I can't verify). The filtered image on the camera focussing screen consists mostly of IR, which the ZigView should be able to pick up easily.

i have another thing about it... dun think the Zigview is slow enough to allow much ambient light to brighten the image when the view itself is dark... you already have problem viewing zigview if the pic is dark, so now with a IR filter, i dun think can view also...

How about if you play around with the exposure control on the zigview? (if there is one)
Why wait until the next outing! try now now now!!!!!!! hehe *waits for results* |

have tried with the kit lens+IR filter+zigview.
yap! you can see the outline of the building and trees, but it's barely visible. unless the place you shoot is super bright and sunny. it does give you a rough idea on what you are shooting, instead of shooting blindly. ![]()
