Latest OS is a bit flaky. You might want to partition both 10.3 and 10.4 OS.

never said cannot... just said not "maximised" for it, or maybe more appropriate, not "optimised" for playing games.

I switched to the 17inch Imac G5 1.8ghz.. i never look back since

The main attraction is that Mac is extremely stable. Especially when i use my mac for photography purposes, deals with huge image files and i like to multitask a lot. No doubt it's slower than PC, but i'll choose stability anytime.

It's not BS. Just my personal experience with Tiger. It's a bitch (no offence to felines. ). Finder can crash if you go deep and Applehelp launches blank pages due to corrupted cache.

Yo behyx, mind if I ask how many Ram do you have in your G5 ?
Will 1 GB Ram sufficient ?

I have a habit of doing mutli-tasking at the same time.

KT, if you wanna know more, can talk at NUG, quite a few converts already, at least 4 Mac users at NUG.

Personally now using Tiger 10.4.2, I've never had the issues on both iBook and PowerBook, in fact I think Tiger is great. I'll agree with Oeyvind but I won't say BS, but just different users' perspective on Tiger. Wanna go AppleShop and play? Hehe.

Yo! It's equipped with a miserable stick of 256MB RAM. Tried 512MB, it's not enough. But after i pumped it with 2 x 512MB RAM and it's much much better and smooth! However i realized that different brand (between samsung and kingston) and speed (CL2.5 or 3) yield different bootup speed. But i guess the best performance comes from running dual channel DDR - i couldn't come up with the budget to do that yet..

One of my heaviest usage is usually editing photos in PS, whilst at the background running Noise Ninja, MSN, Safari (mac's IE), poisoned (mp3 download), itunes and email program. As noise ninja is the most taxing, occasionally the system will slow down a little, but it will never hang on me i'm happy.

Macs are well known to boot up slower than Windoze, but after that... whooooo That's the only thing I hate about Macs, their miserable RAM bundled with their systems are simply NOT enough. Sheesh.

hmmm... i feel my mac boot up faster than a windows counterpart which is using 2.8 or 3ghz + 1gb RAM. And another thing is, a PC will always do some senseless 'harddisk searching' (u can hear the HDD sound) out of the blue, and during that period of time u can't do anything.. If u TRY to do anything, you might risk the system to hang..

well at least my mac do 'harddisk searching' when there is a need to. and other times it just rest. It's like, you don't bother me, i don't bother you.

lastly, 1GB surely is sufficient for me, now.

IIRC, PC indexes it's files whenever you access a directory or something, that's why it's working 'senselessly'. Maybe I'm running PB, so it seems slower than PC?

AFAIK, Mac does defragmentation in the background automatically, forgot where I read this from tho'

1GB for Nikon Capture + PS confirm not enough...

It's not a bug or virus but a defect inherent with the feline OS.
