Hi guys, i have a problem here.

Yesterday, I was trying out a TCON17 from a nice bro on my FZ5 using the original Pana adapter, but the threads do not 'grap' each other. Both are 55mm threads and in great condition but they just doesn't fit. Would anybody here with the same combination care to shed light on this? Thanks.

that is quite impossible, both of same diameter/pitch should be perfect fit.
did you try out with some other 55mm if can fit...

Are the threads on either the Pana adapter or Tcon17 damaged?
    Cos both are plastic made.

By visual inspection, both are not damage in any way.

    This is odd...

Maybe u can try turn anti-clockwise a bit to let the thread sit properly first, before turning clockwise to tighten.

Never ever zoom when using WCON.

I did it in thailand, because I was simply too lazy to take off.
The moment you zoom, even a bit. the edges will be blur/soft.

for this i don't agree with you. i had no problem with my image regarding blur/soft when zoom.
instead i get what i wanted to see directly in front zoom in but the background i still can get abit wider

Huggable had the problem too, but didn't really got to the root of it, though I suspect that the thread on the plastic adaptor is the culprit. I just attached a 55mm UV filter to the plastic tube, and the TCON is able to screw onto the metal threads of the filter perfectly!

Didn't realise there would be problems using 3rd party TCs with the FZ adapter.
Perhaps to avoid such, it is best to get the Panasonic original - LTZ10.
    Review can be found at

Also reviews of other TCs for those not willing to pay Panasonic's price:

    hey bro,
i just found out the problem. got a new len adaptor for my FZ5 for spare. when i try with my B300(which is the same as Tcon17), there is no grip to both thread.
the reason is because of the 1mm extra in front of the len adaptor which is sightly curve. my sand off that 1mm from my old lens adaptor, everything fits very tightly.

    thats the casue...............

    cheers

Thanks for coming that day. I haven't got the filter yet, but seem like adding a filter like what huggable did will do the trick. u still got the TCON?

Thanks huggable, can you tell me what brand model 55mm UV filter you using.

Thanks for the tip, FZ5owner! But i think i won't sand off my adaptor.
When you use your old lens adaptor with the lens, did you use it with a filter too? or nothing in between?

tincup, it is alway wise to get a normal filter to protect your precious lens. In this case a uv filter will do a good job.
Since the day i bought my camera, i hardly remove my uv filter. anything else which i wants to add on i will stack on top of the uv filter. for this i had no issue on photo quality problem.
oh the most i stack was; uv filter + cir polariser + wcon.

I'm using Hoya 55mm UV filter. However I believe any 55mm UV filter with front thread will do.

Anyway I've sanded off the front portion of the adaptor tube as well, but didn't try attaching the TCON directly to the tube anymore...
