Of course he should be paid for his efforts. What bugs me more is the size of the bonus as it is excessive.

The big question here is not whether he is worth the money WE paid him to do the job but whether he or his organisation has a duty to be transparent to the donating public.
When you are managing the national biggest charitable co. do you still have the right to be "private" with any finance that is related to the co.? The doners have the right to know..... no doubt about this. The ST is just a medium to inform the truth to the public and if there are untruths then ST will suffer.... simple case.

Society always support the underdogs. This is no exceptional.
now, if he manage to get a return of 100mil,
or even 15mil from the reserves of 300+mil,
    he deserves what he gets.

BUT, if the reserves' return is similar to bank's deposit,
    then no-no.
or if the money he brought in is simply goodwill of the pple
    in the form of donations,
then his pay is simply vulgar.

don't like the way he dodged ques and making assumptious ans.

ps- lets start a National Non-pro Bodies N Lenses Foundation.
appeal to our fellow citizens to fund our equpments.
show them some blur pics due to slow AF or non-IS lens.
let their hearts weep and all of us can start to look at D2Xes n 1DsMKIIs.
BUT, no GOLD-PLATED bodies!!! especially LEICAS hor.

I wonder if it is a reasonable thing for a public charity to pay so much and is it a moral thing to accpet so much.

If you want to be an organisation that supports thousands of dialyses a month, you need a certain hard-nosed business attitude, which is what the NKF has. The problem is that in the "charity" busines, it rubs people the wrong way.

I won't stop donating, but after today's reports, I'm writing a strong letter to that organisation for sure.
Its not about the act of donating but rather we should be in the know for each dollar you put in how much is going to reach those who need it. For that, it may pay if we go directly to the organization (eg. old folks home, orphanage etc). Do find out how you write out the check, I was once told that if a donation is not made out with a purpose stated, a portion of it will go to a common fund to be redistributed.

I think this is more than what a charitable organization would have done.
they may be the first and only to do it,
    but have u wonder why?

they might be the only who can AFFORD and NEED it.

A lot of charity needs money desperately and then we find out the money we thought we are giving to the kidney foundation is actually part of his bonus... I don't care if anyone agree or not but it makes me lose faith in charity altogether. It just shows that NKF is more of a business oriented (what else is new). I might as well go into charity business and become rich.

Well this is how the organization is being run, it has to pay for its employees. The question is do we have a benchmark to measure how much is excessive? That being said they have to be open about it before it can be measured. I kinda agree with some that this is more about the visibility issue, no visibility we can't even talk about the justification on the usage of the fund.

It's reasonable to get a good man to lead your org.
and of course it's a morally acceptable to accept so much, when the org is doing so well, in terms of helping the people and raising enough fund for such their treatments.

They are transparent, they posted a financial report.
ST suffers because there are half truths about the report.

I wonder where the donation goes when one of the patient say that he need to sell his house to support his illness. Even I got the chance to win the prize, I still wouldn't donate. I rather use those $ on betting rather than giving it to NKF and without knowing where the money is going.
    Only Sony device mostly, haha!
