Excerpt from Channelnewasia.com - Ms Michelle Ang, Deputy Communications Director of NKF, said: "He addressed staff to explain the decision on withdrawing the case, and they gave him a standing ovation.

"As we all know how hard he has worked, his whole life has been about the NKF, the patients especially, as he knows them by name, he sees everyone of them so we all know what TT Durai stands for and he is a great boss."

That is the general consensus among many staff members of the man who has played a key role in building the NKF over the years.

TTD must have a tera-byte HDD up there to hold 2K names. I wonder what's the access speed. Probably not too fast or else he would have stopped Dr GC in time before the additional 1k phantom patients surfaced in the papers.

Since TTD's whole life has been about NKF, he can remain as a NKF volunteer but not the CEO.

As for the NKF case, there is "nothing" that we can do. Let the authorities to handle it. We shall just see how it goes..... btw more or less we shd knw the "results"

Perhaps, it just another branding strategy? Anyway it a "game" for them where ordinary ppl cant fit in. There are two mouths in one chinese character. Unless u are one of the mouths.

Ppl always said, SIngapore are a place for the rich and never never get sick. If u cant live by the "rules" then leave the "rules". Worst, just struggle with the "rules".

Still its ur money. We can persuade u to see our point-of-view (ie, how funds were apparently abused for extravagant stuff when they can be even better used to help even more ppl), but we can't force u to believe in us.

Its ur call buddy. All the best.
    Facts based on who?
I don't think patients should just not pay anything. They should pay something, afterall it's their lives, and they should take charge of it, rather than depending on others. It also would give them other things to think about, other than just their illness.

yeah it's our money. But we offer it on our own free will.
I do see your point of view. But did you see ever try to see it from another pt of view.

    I know it's my call. Thank u.

I see plenty of NKF programs to help people, esp this new program for cancer patients is quite inspiring for me. And i do know that cancer is another expensive illness. If I do not get help from org like NKF, where can I turn to then?
I disagree he earns too much, I agree that he should have come out straight with his pay package.

So which charity do u donate ur time to?
Can i get u to donate stuffs this coming christmas for some kids?
We have the Rainbow club, we have Singapore Cancer Foundation, we have Breast Cancer Foundation.

Since NKF's speciality is to provide care for Kidney paitents and there are other more specialised foundations in Singapore doing Cancer research and after-service care, why duplicate the functions of another society when ur speciality is not in this area in the first place?

    The big question remains.

we all can see where you're coming from, but what kind of a line was that last one anyway? some underlying meaning there? perhaps a subtle indication that makes it seem that YOU'RE the "right" ones?

    that's just low.

Of course you can stand where you choose to stand. This is democracy!

Democracy allows for a lot of nonsense, including standing anywhere one choose to stand.

Please do not take this as an attack on your choices to do what you feel is right. I applaud your care and concern for the less fortunate. You have a much more noble attitude than many of us here.

There are many ways to do things. There are some who feel that exercising some "wisdom" in how to channel their money is important. They do not want their money to be wasted in frivolous ways. But some, like you, do not mind some of your money going to the toilet of the CEO. Others do not. I do not want my money to fund the CEO's personal mercedes. It does not matter even if the board had agreed to this (I cetainly would like to see the employment contract!).

I want to maximise the utilisation of my money. So I exercise a little more care. But you are entitled to give your money to anyone and allow that person to do anything with your money, including having a nice toilet.

NKF will not collapse if money stops coming in today. Even if there is ZERO income for the next few years, the patients will not suffer the slightest bit, unless of course NKF is vindictive. In which case they should cease to exist.

But sending NKF a strong signal to mange your money properly is very important. It will be an iimportant wake-up call. Otherwise they will capitalise on attitudes like yours to continue doing what they were doing.

Can turn to KDF, offering about $130 a month for dialysis. 80% of the donor's funds goes back to the patient.

For cancer, can go to SIngapore Cancer Society, here a message from them:

The Singapore Cancer Society held the first Cancer Charity Show on TV in October 2004 to raise funds to help needy patients. We are grateful to the public for their strong support. We raised S$3 million of which, S$1 million was used to take care of over 1,000 cancer patients and their families under our welfare, hospice and rehabilitation programmes, as well as provide free cancer screening to members of the public. The remaining S$2 million was designated to the Singapore Cancer Society Fund to help patients pay for their cancer treatment. Since the launch of the Fund early this year, 140 patients had been referred under this scheme for their cancer treatment at the National Cancer Centre.

This year, the Singapore Cancer Society will be hosting our own Cancer Charity Show in September. We are confident that the public will recognize our efforts to help needy cancer patients and continue to give us their support.

We regret the confusion caused by the similarity in the names of both shows, The Cancer Charity Show started by Singapore Cancer Society, and NKF Cancer Show. Singapore Cancer Society has been providing welfare aid, free hospice care, free cancer screenings, rehabilitation support and cancer prevention education for the past 40 years. We are the only cancer organization in Singapore providing all the above for the community.

We hope this will clear any confusion.

    Definition of peanuts:

    Lifted from urbandictionary.com

    almost no money at all

I got a bunch of worthless books for peanuts.

    Lifted from wikipedia

Peanuts for edible uses account for two-thirds of the total peanut consumption in the United States. The principal uses are salted, shelled nuts, peanut butter (popular in sandwiches), peanut brittle, candy bars, and nuts that have been roasted in the shell. Salted peanuts are usually roasted in oil and packed in retail size, plastic bags or hermetically sealed cans. Dry roasted, salted peanuts are also marketed in significant quantities. The primary use of peanut butter is in the home, but large quantities are also used in the commercial manufacture of sandwiches, candy, and bakery products. Boiled peanuts are a preparation of raw, unshelled green peanuts typically eaten as a snack in the southern United States where most peanuts are grown. Peanuts are also often eaten raw, or boiled in salt water. Peanut oil is often used in cooking, because it has a mild flavor and burns only at a relatively high temperature. Under the name Plumpy'nut for 100 g small bag 2 per day are given by the World Health Organization as a surviving base to many children in Africa.

Peanuts are also very widely sold for garden bird feeding. Low grade or culled peanuts not suitable for the edible market are used in the production of peanut oil, seed and feed.

Peanuts have a variety of industrial end uses. Paint, varnish, lubricating oil, leather dressings, furniture polish, insecticides, and nitroglycerin are made from peanut oil. Soap is made from saponified oil, and many cosmetics contain peanut oil and its derivatives. The protein portion of the oil is used in the manufacture of some textile fibers.

Peanut shells are put to use in the manufacture of plastic, wallboard, abrasives, and fuel. They are also used to make cellulose (used in rayon and paper) and mucilage (glue).

Peanut plant tops are used to make hay. The protein cake (oilcake meal) residue from oil processing is utilized as an animal feed and as a soil fertilizer.

Don't you love peanuts?? I am SO in love with them so PASS SOME OVER RIGHT NOW DAMMIT!

    Hi Nisa,

Charity is done out from goodwill and it shd not be a challenge.

And personally i feel that, when someone have done a charity or any good course, do he or she need to keep telling what he or she has done??? That wun be good course anymore as they only want to show off, am i right?

Anyway, the one who giving are the benifit too cos they can see what have they become. It always the most fortunate to be a giver.

Give supporters of NKF a break - obviously there are many people who have not encountered problems of dealing with NKF, or the criteria they set, or their selection process of patients...

Ever noticed & wondered why NKF patients looked relatively mobile & fit? Where are the really aged, sick, and amputees who also need dialysis? Shouldn't our money now go to these people instead of continuing to feed luxuries of NKF top mgmt...?

Facts dug out by Davinder Singh. SPH's Lawyer. Facts admitted to by Durai, in court, under oath.

And if u do see our point of view, the point would be conceeded by now - that facts queried were admitted in court under oath.

Its our call not to donate and let others know of it to let them make THEIR call.

We had said our piece with regards to the entire matter. Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.
