Default Noobie at Concert photography

Shot with the 20D+350D plus 17-40 and 135 on the 2 bodies. Former was for the crowd, latter was for the close ups. Why noobie?because it truly is my first time doing a full on concert photography on a paid basis. For your viewing pleasure.

Crowds...

thanks khairi, your street shoots are unparalled as well....i hope witness didnt tell you scandalous things about me

for the crowd shots, yes i used flash, however for the close up shots- no fill flash was used, wanted to preserve the ambient exposure.BTW the 350D is really a neat machine....i'm using it temporarily till my 1D mk ii comes.

i hope you enjoyed the shots

Good shots!

I'm amazed you can record so much lights with that kind of sharpness because whenever i used slow shutter, the results are often not that sharp.

Keep it up!

eh I think I saw you! you were with some girl who was drinking Ribena right? I was at the side at one point and I was drinking ribena too
I was in a plain white v-neck and I had 3 stripes going across one side of my scalp

anyway I really like the shot of the pink girl
the motion and colours really give me the sensation of some fleeting moment
if I could describe it in terms of a song, I would say it would be a kylie minogue song

What are your settings for the pink girl. Slow/rear sync flash? Or was it just panning?

Thanks, it helped. I am not too good about flash techniques. How are you able to pan with the subject at crisp sharpness at a shutter speed of 1/25? Is it because of the slow sync rear flash? How does it work?

sorry for the late reply, was occupied with some matters-yes it is partially due to the slow sync flash, essentially the flash will freeze the movement or the subject in question while the slow shutter speed allows for the light to come in. Obviously the usual panning techniques apply here, i believe i was using AI Servo for this one.

Hope it helps. cheers!
