Tell me more about the M6 /M7 ....

hello there!!
i want to get a leica M , which one shd i go for....
and where can i get a 1st or 2nd hand ?

i saw a M6 black at a 2nd hand shop for 2850... is the price ok ? or is there a market rough guide to pricing ? or if i want a first hand where can i get it and what's the price for each of the above?

and as for lens , how much is a 2nd hand 50mm standard leica lens?

avg used m6 goes for slightly over 1k USD. I was offered a nice one in the uk for about £600 so that should be a good price to work from. Check out the photo.net leica forum for more answers.

Used latest 50 cron (50/2 summicron) should be about $1k. You can ship in new stuffs from Hong Kong, probably through Dr. Yao (Terence deals with him a lot). You can also buy from Cathay Photo. Prices are about 10% (or more) more than Hong Kong Prices but you get 5 years warranty for bodies and 3 years warranty for lenses.

GL, I think a current nice 50 cron would be a bit more than that. It's about $1800 new so it's like the used price level would be approx $1400 or so. With the recent price increase, used prices have been affected to a certain extent.

A new M7 is about $4850 at CP. Nice M6 Classics and TTLs are hovering about the $2000-$2500 price range. If you're not fussy about having a meter, perhaps you can check out the M2/M3 (Double stroke), about $1000-$1600 depending on condition.

huh? The only chrome bodies I have are the M1 and M3, rest all black. I think you must've been talking to someone else.
