I like the second shot (No. 2). Both are similarly sharp. The green-blue colour on the fly's body together with its red eyes gives a more vibrant picture.

Very nice. How close were you and how were you able to squeeze so much DOF? I'm having trouble with DOF and need some direction.

Nice to see your work again
#2 has more DOF compare to #3 but in terms of BG, I dun like the dark patch on top of #2. Overall I prefer #3 148 shots!!! how come only post 3 Dun be stingy. |

Nice colours. A lot oversharpened. Esp #2. Saturation a bit over.

Thats why the DOF is more, I cut the head of another sharp head and paste it on the sharp body.... The distance was 19cm. Pic 3 shows the DOF of the actual set up.
Heh...the rest of the shots are coming soon..

Other tricks...Sometimes, I will USM the image, than neatimage it to remove noise, than as that affects the sharpness, I will select the eyes of the USM image and paste it on the neatimage image. So that the eyes remains sharp....

Was at the book shop and found that there are many different type of flies.
The above green one is known as a BLOW FLY or sometimes known as Green Bottle. Than there is a common house fly, Flesh fly (the striped black and white one).....and all along I thought all these were the same ![]()
