Default No more Leica lens ?

Just read the advertisement in my Newpaper of 7 July 2005.
For the Lumix DMC-LZ2. 5MP.
The lens is named "Lumix DC Vario".
No more Leica Vario Elmarit.
Another cost cutting exercise.

Ouch ! I won't buy any Lumix without Leica lens. (even if it is a "2nd rate" Leica lens not equal to those on the M and R series, it still gives fabulous pictures. )

I am not so sure about the "Lumix DC Vario".

my friend bought the LZ2 and the pictures are pretty decent even at x6 zoom...the lens plays a part but I suspect only if you are very technical about your images.
but 5MP, x6 optical zoom, Mega OIS and Venus engine at less than S$500, one should not be complaining.
