Default Is AH lousy or that is the way thing goes...

Recently i have a bad back sprain. While walking, there is a sharp pain at the spine area. As it was late, i decided to go to AH (near my place as well) for a check. The doctor told me that it was just a muscle pull and just resting will do. For me, it was like while walking certain steps, the pain is totally unbearable and yet the doctor just offer me an injection to remove the pain as well as the pain killer. I rejected the injection cos it seem to me just a temporary solution. There is nothing i could do but just rely on the doctor advise, which is rest and hopefully thing could get better.

The next morning, i could barely walk. Took a cab to a chinese doctor at novena. The doctor diagnos that my backbone was misalign and after just twisting, he manage to push it back. And to my surprise i could now walk (though there is still aching at the muscle area).

I was really piss off cos i paid $55 for some crap advise at AH. If i had listened to his advice, i think my condition will have gotten worse. So the question is, for sprains and stuff like that, is it that western treatment is useless or is it just that the standard at AH sucks?? Will SGH be better, i will need to go to a hospital or sort to get a proper letter to excuse myself from carrying heavy stuff etc or is there other alternative. Thanks for reading! Look forward to hearing comments from you guys!

Perhaps you could request for a scan or x-ray at AH? It is true that inexperience or younger doctors could very well give a wrong or ill-advised diagnoiss, best thing to do is to seek a second opinion.

What chinese doctor did you go to ? Was he some specialist in this kind of ailments ? Lots of these back/neck problems dont show up in X rays. I suppose you need to get expensive CT scans done. I sprained my neck once while playing football. They did an X ray but nothing showed up in it. Had to survive on pain killers for 20 days.

I would be interested in seeing some Chinese doctors if they can massage such problems back to shape !

I think the doctor was "confident" as he quoted 99.9% sure that the bone was alright, that is why no x-ray was done. The chinese doctor on the other hand can feel the misalign of the bone and push it back in place. Perhaps the misalignment would be too small to shown on the x-ray anyway.

anyway rahul, i strongly recommend the clinic near novena. It is just opposite the novena united square glass structure. All the physician are not bad, but the best is the lady called dr chen mei er. Everyday long queue just to get her to treat their problem. Anyway the other time i sprain my neck, i tried the other doctor and it is also very good. When i first sprain, i can only rotate left and right by a few degrees. After he crack (you really can hear the bones inside moving) and adjust abit, i can fully rotate! Go try it and i can gurantee you that you won't be disppointed!

hahaa, trust you to catch me on that one! Ok i better rephrase it before someone view me as a freak. I can now rotate my head normally like most of humans around. Anyway for those who got sprain at the neck shoulder area before should know that it is damm awkward not to be able to rotate the neck area freely. And it is quite surprising that at the hands of the skillful one, can immediate fix the problem and gain back the rotating (not 360 degree) motion.

My collegue also encounter the same thing.
She went to the company doctor after the pain is too much for her to take it.
The doctor only give her some painkiller.
But the whole team does not believe him.
Later, she went to Poly Clinic and insist for an X-ray.
Guess what, the x-ray shown her back-bone is curving.
