If I am not mistaken, Windows 98 is already End of Life, meaning MS no longer produces, sells and support it.

Either you use Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional edition.

Try the 2nd hand shops in SLS. They should have a few for sale.

An original copy of XP Home should cost around $150 in SLS.

I've never supported doing upgrades on Windoze OS.

    Format if possible, then install.

if you are using Win98 chances are your system will not be able to support Win XP

I have used XP on a Pentium-III 800Mhz 256 MB RAM. For just normal home use it works fine on this configuration. If your configuration is anything below this, stay with Windows 98 I would suggest.

if you have to ask this question, I think you're in for trouble when installing Win98. Good luck.

Yeah, recommend to upgrade to WinXP if your system has min 256mb RAM. If not so much RAM, better to stay with Win98se.

CPU speed is not as critical as RAM.. I've used XP on AMD K6-2+ 600mhz and it runs just fine..
