Read rule of third already and i edited post #5 this time with the same ratio and now the 3 HDB blocks below are the main focus with 2 "main" blocks in the background left and right balances out the background. For my 1st shot i wanted a panaromic shot even if i could follow rule of 3rd all the blocks look the same.

You can try to do like what catchlights said about the blown out highlights by pulling the down the lightlights to desired levels.

If pulling down the highlights in LR doesn't allow you to achieve the desired levels, then it may mean that it is indeed over exposed as I perceived and going forward, you can increase your shutter speed or use a GND filter (either physical or LR) to balance the exposure and adjust your shutter speed accordingly

I recommend that before you post pictures, look at your own photos, and ask yourself:

    Are they nice?
    Are they worth looking at?
What areas of the photo can use more work?
Is it worth your time posting it up?

Look at pictures from others in the same place... and compare.

This is shot by a mobile phone camera in Vivo...

I used to shoot at will when I first got my own camera. I guess it's part and parcel of the learning process that after a while, one realises that one good picture is miles better than a million mediocre ones. Just takes a bit of time I guess.

IMHO, one way to look at photography is that every photo from a photographer tells a story.

So, one of the very first question when we take a photo is what story we want to tell our audience?

The beauty / feel / element of interest of the subject in terms of colour, texture, shadow, light, curves and lines? etc or that we can see the same subject in a different light that reflects the creativity and thought of the photographer?

Hence, can you answer the question of, what story are you trying to tell the audience here? then you can answer your own question if "Are all the pictures bad"

Don't get it wrong though. One way to learn to is through continuous practice coupled with self realization. So, don't stop shooting but every time you take a photo, think about what story you want to bring across and at every instance, take a step forward both in both technique and creativity in photography composition.

I did not think any of the pictures you posted so far are worth anyone's time.

It is bad. Yes. Even those you think is ok, is bad actually. But then again, u can stroke your ego by thinking its good. Shut out the world and u are the best. Easy, isnt it?

Btw, dont mind ah, dont start one thread for one shoot.

The last image on post #1 looks ok to me. Perhaps u can try to compose at different focal length, and hope it gets better. Or play with exposure to get smoother water.

PS: Image for sure can be further improve. Keep on shooting.

Let's not demoralise the TS. Everyone requires motivations to shoot. Positive reinforcement is better negative reinforcements though

I don't think positive reinforcement is used in this way. Positive reinforcement is used following a correct behavior or action. Anyway, what you are doing is to reinforce TS to be defensive. You probably mean encouragement. Then again, look at how TS talks, do you think he needs to be encouraged? He seems fully capable of self-encouragement.

It is easy to talk from moral high grounds but i don't see anyone being put down. It is also annoying when a person post a thread per shoot. Imagine all of us do that. Who is able to see anything? I think there is some history between TS and some members but that wasnt part of my consideration when i post.

You may think you are helping TS by talking nice, are you really?

TS.... I recommend taking a step back before posting your photos.
I am not very good myself yet, but what i recommend is taking your photos put it on you PC and take a good hard stare at your pictures and the works others.
Try and figure out if what you are trying to portray works out or if they are similar to how the feeling others have in their picture.
I do that after every outing to prevent myself from posting rubbish and also reflect on how to improve my pictures.
