Hi all,
Just wondering if anybody knows the real difference between the 1990 35mm Summilux ASPHERICAL lens versus the current one? Is it limited in numbers or something? Seems more expensive 2nd hand than a current model 2nd hand one. Thanks. |

The first version (marked "ASPHERICAL") has two aspherical elements and was of limited production, whereas the current one (marked "ASPH") has a single aspherical element.
According to Erwin Puts' "Leica Lens Compendium", the performances and fingerprints of both lenses are almost identical. Writing about the ASPH version:

According to Dan Colucci's price guide, the 35 'lux ASPHERICAL is around US$3500.

These lenses fetch as high as USD$4000-4500 for mint condition ones. |
