People writing into the papers to plead for it to end in the city center for convenience. But wasn't one of the reasons for die-die wanting to move the existing train terminal from Tanjong Pagar to Woodlands is that the CIQ should not be so far into our land?

Ending in Jurong area makes more sense.... then travelers can transfer to MRT and travel towards the 'City'.

Heard that this High Speed rail will in the end... link SG all the way to China. Another way to travel....

Train between 2 nations where custom clearance is required, best to be at the border. We have MRT to tuas, I don't see what is the problem. Talking up more space for high speed train to city centre also expose to more danger should something go wrong with the train. Keep it simple.

    Jurong is correct location.

    City Centre is wrong location.

This is a high speed rail terminal, not a taxi stand. Can Singaporeans have more common sense?

So if built in CBD, who is paying for the land needed in the end?
Not just the terminal, but the rail road as well.

Since we are in kopitiam, Singapore is such a small tiny dot. From tuas to CBD how long it takes for the train to travel? High speed rail is for distance in 100 km. by the time it cross custom, no chance to pick up speed.

Would be very nice if you could also use a little more common sense in your future postings.

The high speed train should pass through all the MRT stations so that we could just wheel our luggages into a lift and out and into our homes.

When in Singapore high speed rail slow to mid-speed and then down to slow speed when it is in CBD.

What I understood was the fear last time that the railway track is considered Malaysian ground. Very hard to counter if they drive a train in and start dropping commandos along the line prior to any open conflict. HSR will be rather isolated from the surroundings and the rail line under Singapore's charge so no such worries. Personally, doesn't really matter to me where it terminates. I just hope eventually it will be part of the pan-asian railway all the way to Kunming and beyond, then I can have a chance to ride it before I die.

that was because Malaysia OWNED and operated that strip of land that cut Singapaore into half all the way from Woodlands to Tg Pagar on southern end of country.

Cant see why we cant follow the HK-Guanzhou Express train model/system of immigration clearance

Having it in or near the city center would be best....like a Grand Central Station (NY) , Tokyo Station (Japan) , Beijing Station (China) or Waterloo Station (London)...... and NEUTRAL

Otherwise keep it at Tuas or Woodlands

Ownership of long tracts of railway land by Malaysia cutting through the heart of Singapore for several kilometers, has been a bone of contention.

LHL & Najib finally resolved this.

Mahatir & LKY could not resolve this because Mahatir detested LKY for unknown reasons.

the malaysian side wants it to go thru nusajaya/iskandar so woodlands is unlikely.
    tuas seems more like it.

If they want to drop off commandos along the line, they don't have to just do it along their land. They can donit any time and tuas is an isolated place that seems like a good choice for invasion as well.

It all depends on how they do plan the attack

What if Malaysia launches their attack from where they hide MH370?

We'll be blur where it comes from?
