If your intention in the pp is to have the foliage white, then you have a lot of greens in the leaves of the coconut tree and the bushes at the distant of the scene. Or unless you wanted to leave them a little green. You can get them more white by adjusting the green channel in the hue/saturation step of the pp. By adjusting the blue channel in the Channel Mixing step, you will get a different shade of blue and bring the clouds out a little more. There's motion blur in the leaves also. Don't think it's camera shake as the grass at the bottom are okay. Try and wait for any wind to die down before shooting, that should prevent any blurring of the foliage. Those are my honest opinions. But anyway, a good try. Shoot more, you will definitely have better results. I'm not good either. I always get my horizon slanted. Here's a quick one ![]() Last edited by teerex; 2nd July 2005 at 06:15 PM. |

Thanks Nisa and Teerex for your comments.
Here is another try ![]() Actually I prefer to leave the yellow colour of the tree in it. Because after I try to adjust, the foliage looks grey instead of white. Looks like a B&W photo with blue skies and did not appeal to me. Hmm.. maybe I should haf been more patient and wait for wind to die down. Btw, the shutter was 6s so its quite difficult to get a photo without motion blur.. but I try again. Thanks.. will be going to Taiwan tomorrow.. still thinking whether to bring tripod there to shoot IR.. Cheers, Kelvin |

If you want to shoot IR while in Taiwan, it's best to bring along a tripod. You need long exposure. Enjoy your trip and hope to you you post some Taiwan IR.
If you want some colours in the foliage, shoot an evenly lit scene. Then you won't get some dark grey and some colours in the foliage. Don't know if this is good enough, but during pp you can get colours in the foliage if you want. This one is a bit blown, should burn the foliage a little. ![]() Or if you want more colours in your IR. Venture into this, I just learnt it from a guru here. ![]() Last edited by teerex; 3rd July 2005 at 02:17 PM. |

Hi Teerex,
Thanks for your suggestions.. I tried to add some colours to my IR photos from Taiwan. I used magic wand followed by colour balance. Don't know if its the best way. Anyway.. Taiwan is scorching hot now so I din have to use long exposure. I think about 2.5s for most shots . I did it handheld.. results not too good. ![]() |

The ones at the reservior were from tripod. Those in Taiwan I term it handheld because i never use tripod.
Maybe its an incorrect term. Actually I got lean my hands against walls and railings when i took them to stabilise the photos.. so not exactly handheld i guess. ![]() |
