    Default Grainy NEFs

I'm producing 'grainy' pics from my NEF files. I opened them up in NC4 and saw the super grainy pics shot at ISO200. Bright afternoon sky.

My settings (if they're of any use) were:
    f/4.5
    1/2500
    ISO 200
    ev: 0

    100% crop

I was told after jpeging it will soothe out some grains but it didn't.
When the pic was zoomed out or cropped to 600X400 the "snake" artefacts looked like a super grainy pic.

i did a search on net and CS and found the closest replica of my problem is like Sausage but only that in my case, both in PS and NC4 were both grainy!

Am I missing out on something?
