textures tell stories about the place. how the material is weathered, corroded, eroded through time, by human or natural elements, or both.
so here are some pictures of textures. i'm curious whether anyone appreciates this type of pictures. counter-terrorists win ![]() dear anastasia ![]() shatter ![]() |

I like the war of the worlds one =)
as if a huge spaceship hovers over the geoscape... other than that, the other pics way too abstract for me to appreciate. mebbe elaborate alittle more on each one? |

actually they don't have fixed meanings, i just like the way the textures are formed by chaos. these are genuine accidental textures, each scar, imprint or installation.
i interpret each of them in my own imaginative way :P which i admit r very abstract... for eg counter-terrorists win: a spray of bullets during a crossfire, the sway of blue uniforms of the sas down the aisle: the static bride and flowergirl side by side, frozen in time maelstrom: meteor shower etc etc but these r my own interpretations, i hope these dun limit others' imaginations. hope they dun appear as mere visual crap too :P |

I guess yr title 'portrait of place' and your interpretations somehow dont mix, since the abstract pics each sorta tell a story instead. Not too sure how the green leaf one says 'air', more like 'light & energy' to me, unless that's a green cloth floatin in the breeze...
limit yr imaginations? nah, i just like to understand a little more why U took these pics & interpreted them and they dont look like visual crap, they're good pics... thanks for sharing... =) Last edited by Rev; 28th June 2005 at 02:22 AM. |

These are great! I shoot textures and shapes as well. I guess when it comes down to presenting the pics on a forum like this, the pictures don't quite translate well. No fault of the photos just that web based forums don't have enough visual elements to support the abstract.

very nice series, especially "air"
I would have liked a bit more contrast to the pics though. Some of them look a bit flat

thanks for ur comments...
"air" is actually a banana leaf. the lines remind me of aerodynamics i used to study long time ago and the silhouette seems to be in tune with the flow, so... "air" loh i'm trying to retain the original colours and lighting so most of them i only applied usm. heres another one untitled ![]() Last edited by ziedrich; 28th June 2005 at 12:32 PM. |
