As a novice point of view, I feel that this lense is very versatile...light weight, good walk around lense. If compare it with my 50 f1.8, the photo from sigma is on the soft side, but it is still very acceptable for me. I have hands on the Tamron 18-200 before getting the sigma and I don't like the plastic feel of the Tamron and the zooming part is too stiff for my liking. Sigma have much solid build imho.

Go try out both lenses in the shop see which one u like loh.

    Happy shooting!
Thanks sinner1974, seems like a good lens. Good luck for your sales.

    Hi guys,
    finally got my Sigma 18-200mm.

Here's a sample from my lens. As u can see, not the sharpest lens around, but great for travelling and a 1 lens solution. I can now retire my kit lens.

    18mm F/8
    Resized 25%

100% crop of the above pic

Just taken some macro/close up shot of my parrot fish using the sigma 18-200.

    350D iso100 f11 200mm 1/100s
    Resize only.

100% crop of the fish eye. Sharp or not sharp? Well.... u decide.

100% crop. The head part. haha keeping my fish for so long and I didn't know that they got all this "pattern" on their head. Thats the fun part about macro/close up shot!!
