Jd, i remember yr advice on capturing the motion/action ...really gave a shiok feeling
fuse, yes i used the scn mode exif data show it at 1/50 sec f/8
, i set it at normal resolution allowing me to attain rate of 7frames/burst
it a lucky shot... go to show that our fz is capable of good sharp pic btw the pic is straight from the camera

Cool, I am glad that I am able to help you in finding the right shutter speed and f-stop.

Keep trying...I am also so crazy about panning now.

My suggestion is:

1. Make the shutter speed slightly slower.
2. Choose a more distinctive background, so that no one needs to guess if this is a panning shot.

A distinctive background consideration can be a bunch of flowers, a roll of bike parking at the parking lots, etc.

If you were try to pan an aeroplane that is in the clear blue sky, chances are, even if you have succeeded, you as the photographer for that shot may not even be able to tell if you have made it.

try panning shot during day time at wide angle keep the speed to 1/60 or 1/50 sec
even without ois on u should be able to get sharp pics

eh....why can't we simply set to "panning mode" under the scene function?
that would save alot of grief trying to figure out the best deal..
does it make alot of difference to set it manually?

I have never thought about using the panning mode, however, I would think that using Shutter priority mode will give you more control on the amount of motion you would want to have...with the panning mode, I am not sure if you can still control if you want to set your shutter speed at either 1/50 sec, 1/60 sec or something else...
