Thread: Shipping from Bali.

  1. #1

    Default Shipping from Bali.

Any one ship from Bali before??

I want to buy some items that will be impossible to get it on plane, so need to ship to Singapore.

Need some advice, like company that can do and the rough charges.

    Thanks.

Ask the retailer you are dealing with to recommend a freight forwarder? What kinda stuff? Furniture? My guess is that shops that sell bulky stuff in areas frequented by tourists would be quite familiar with helping to arrange freight.

Was told he shipped by boxes, fixed price per box. Not too big, at most 1m in height.

    I also didn't know... haha.

Google the terms "LCL shipment" and "FCL shipment" you'll get a bunch of pages with explanations.

Thought it was quite a straightforward write-up

    From what I can gather:

If you think of a of a freight container as a 40 seater coach/bus, and the cargo as passengers, then...

LCL is like a bus that is only confirmed when the bus company has sold all 40 tickets for that particular trip. Maybe 5 tickets are sold to Family A, 15 sold to Travel Agency B, 20 sold to a group of students for an excursion.

FCL is like a bus that has been chartered by someone for an event. Maybe they only have 30 pax, doesn't matter if they have 10 empty seats, they booked the whole bus anyway. It still works out cheaper than buying 30 individual tickets. It will leave whenever they want it to leave.
