i suggest you forget about simple slik tripod..
the $50 U-series slik tripod is not as good as some of the $25 mixed brand tripods out there.. don't believe you go see yourself at MS colour..
once you hit the $80+.. they're good... v good..

ermz.. check out those shops along penn..
those cheap sakura or some other funny brand like olympus etc..
cheap and good, esp since you're using something like a FX8 (going to)..
hmmm don't think FX8 is released yet.

anyway most tripods u see, bargain till $25 - 35, depending on your skill and the shop.. that's about the lowest u can go.. even those they open price at $45 or so.. look for one with a quick release, you'll thank me for it later on, otherwise even $25 is too expensive..

can try look at carrefour for tripod too. think they haf a ballhead type quite cheap too..

Think AP selling high speed 50X. v cheap.
BTW if they say it's high speed card without stating the speed, then most likely it's a FS card. FS stands for Farking Slow. not worth the $130 u can get the cards at IMHO.

i got a e-quote from MS color, $625 for the fx8. So shld be released, since i got another e-quote for $590 for fx7.

Yes, quick release, saw my fren use b4, its the plate that is removeable from the tripod right?

For the SD card right, how abt this from eastgear.....................
Kingston Elite Pro (High-speed 8.2MB/s) SD 1GB = $139.00
Is this 50X. ?
Kingston have 5yr warranty right? Are there other brands that are more dependable?

thx again .

kingston cards, they're slow at writing..
tested with 6 diff cards, even with my new kingston 50X...
their write speed is only about 30X.
warranty.. ermz.. i wouldn't even want to touch warranty.. coz it'll mean that i found out my card spoilt.. and most likely i'd be taking photo at the time..

i saw another card touted at 10mb/s..
then the back cover had a * and said, 10mb/s for read only..

I bought a fx-8 today from AP at $630. Maybe you will want to take them on at CASE.

It's common for salesmen to quote you either a high price on the unavaliable unit, or give you a months away release date. The point is to make the sale today, the moment you walk out, it's anybody's fish again. If you don't buy their nonsense. They'll give you a silly low quote, so you will still return to them when the stock is avaliable.

You might want to take them on this one. The pain will come when you try to sell your FX7.

Hi Don,

Yep $630 is the final price. No idea what is the name of the sales guy. I was given a free case with the words LUMIX on it. That's about it.

I call AP to complain about this matter and demand for a exchange to FX8. The saleman say Panasonic given them wrong information. They agree to take back my FX7 and exchange for Fx8 with a top up of $30 and apologize to mi. And there service is

wow, looks like i will go down to AP to get my Canon S2....this type of customer service boost my confidence in them, i dun even mind paying a little extra if their price is a couple of tenth dollars higher than the others....

we spread the words if there is bad sheep retailers, but we must also promote those with excellent "customer alway right" seller....

I won't take things at face value. AP after all had at least one long thread on what many consider unehtical selling methods. They rectify, when caught. But for those who don't realize it. Too bad for them.

Bro, did you get a screen protector for your new FX8. The saleman at AP say not necessary for Fx8 because it is already protected...is it true?

I find screen protector a must. Where got such a thing as already protected. Is it like handphone screen when new got a piece of firm over t? Maybe that is wat he meant. Buy one that fits nicely, nxt time when tat one starts to peel you can use the one you bought.

the 256MB card appears to be "standard" now as everybody else is doing it, so Panasonic cannot afford not to. The 2nd 256MB appears to be over...
so you pay $665 for camera package plus 256MB card plus hardcase.
If you buy at Courts at retail of $799, you get an additional tripod but then, you can easily buy a good tripod for much less the difference...
