Default Close up with Grasshopper

Took pictures of this grasshopper some time back.
Just wondering, is the eyes of grasshoppers covered with some semi-transparent membrane, because, for all my shots, none of the eyes in those shots were sharp, unlike eyes of other insects such as flies, which can be very sharp. It could also be because my shots were badly focused. Not sure.
Really appreciate if someone enlighten. Thank you.

Lovely shots Nice DOF also #2 is my fav but again, the BG is not very good Guess sometime, BG is not something we can easily control As for the eyes, they look pretty sharp to me, especially #2. BTW, the shots are all noisy

Thanks Melvyn, Falcon and damithc for your comments.

The shots were taken at around 6pm in the evening without flash, hence the noise.
Nowadays, I try to take pictures in the morning, as I find the light better.
