(These Wimberly and Markins plates are better than the normal plastic quick release plates in the lower end tripods. So if your camera slips while mounted on a tripod, it may not be the ballhead's problem. It may be because you're using not-so-well-built camera plates)

if i remember correctly, the P5 plate states it may cause problem (cant remember what sort of problem) is used on @ camera with polycarb casing (without battery grip), they states specificaly D60.
this may be due to the design of the plate, which has a under-cut in the middle portion. hence if you screw onto the camera (with allen key mind you, do not use too much force!), you are in effect, deforming the camera base, thus, may affect some functionality of the camera. pls correct me if i am wrong.

hi discman
since 350d is polycarb frame & casing (compare to steel frame & polycarb for d60), may i suggest you check it out before buying the plate (understand it is $$$$)

sorry guys, my mistake for the chassisl & the bottom material, should be stainless steel instead of ploycarb like in my previous post.
taken off dpreview : Construction According to Canon the EOS 350D is made up of three main materials; a stainless steel chassis (blue in the diagram), the mirror box which is made of high-strength 'engineering plastic' (red in the diagram) and the body made of a special lightweight 'engineering plastic' which also provides some electromagnetic shielding. (Diagram below provided by Canon, colored by ourselves). as such, i have to correct my mistake of suggesting P5 plate may flex the bottom of the camera. it kind of surprise since d60 weighs 855g, 350d weighs 540g (though it is smaller, but steel chassis!)

From Wimberley's site with regards to the D60 problem.
For the 350D users, please take note of this when using the Wimberley P5 plate... Canon 350D Compatibility problem: The P-5 will work on the original 300D, but it covers part of the battery cover on the new 350D. Cheers, |

for body plate i prefer to get acratech camera plate or RRS plate, it has a curve to fit in to ur camera, no need to worries to slip etc etc.

But the problem with RRS plates is that thems are dedicated body plates, and you will have to get a new one once u change body... Wimberly P5 is a generic body plate that you could fit on to any body...
