Thread: Singapore 2014 Budget

    Default Singapore 2014 Budget

So what is your take on this? Does it impact you?

For me, CPF increase is good but it would better if not all goes into Medisave.
And with the alcohol prices up, will it makes us more unhappy?!! (we are already quite unhappy in the ranking)

Yup. It's gonna get worse cos we cannot afford the same amount of feel good juice (alcohol)

No matter how they packaged it, increasing CPF contributions = increased revenue.

    True

They can give everyone 1 billion SGD$ into their CPF

Then announce the age to withdraw CPF money is 101 years old

If you die before age 101, your CPF will be convert to hell money and burn to you

Not by much... me no drink or smoke... and as I'm getting older (hitting the big 4 Zero)... more $$$$ in my Medisave would come in handy soon enough...

Don't drink, don't smoke, don't stay private housing and take public transport and you will have a net gain.

Whats the meaning of live if we follow what you said .. earn a modest salary and never enjoy life to the fullest. Work hard, spend less, give birth more and work harder to take care of kids.

You may be surprised how/where it will impact you indirectly. With the CPF 1% increase in wages and additional for older wage group, who do you think the business will pass the costs to? Your local friendly kopitiam or eateries will need to increase the wages of its workers. I cannot imagine the chain effect (the same as increase the petrol prices).

Inflation is global issue, I am happy that the gov has taken steps to tackle it from multiple angle, some people may or may not satisfied with it but when u look back many years later, u will appreciate all these tinkering to make our life sustainable.

Rise in cost is a confirm... I'm expecting a pay increase... so are all those Kopi Uncle and Auntie and their bosses...

Therefore like always... cut back on unnecessary stuffs and eat less outside, like I've been doing for the last few years...

Depending on your current age... you might not ever see it in lump sum.

For my age group....I doubt I'll ever see mine lump sum or may not have chance to take some out when 55yrs old...

But surprising... maybe already 'used' to the idea... isn't too bitter...
