Default Canon EOS 350D firmware updated

For those who do not know yet. The Canon EOS 350D firmware had been updated to v1.0.2. You can find out more at http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/eosdigit...irmware-e.html

For a while I was wondering why my shots through my 350D had been a little under exposed; always have to use photoshop to make the corrections.

Its an official firmware, I don't think it'll void your warranty. It was meant to be user upgradable anyway. As long as your battery is full/CF card is working perfectly fine, I don't see why the upgrade process will fail.

For those who have no confidence in upgrading the firmware themselves or too lazy to do it, you can bring your camera down to Canon Service Centre. Just wait there for half an hour for them to do the upgrade.

Think the danger i can think of self upgrade is when you OFF your camera before the update is complete.. coz if you off it halfway (if you think it hang aready) you camera will no longer BOOT up.. juz like our Windows PC (Missing Boot Record, Please insert Bootable Disk) ... lol

Wait for the upgrade to complete, it will prompt you when it is ready to be off.

I have updated mine 350D, so far no problem.

I guess one need to be very careful with upgrading any electronics stuff, if the upgrade is aborted half way due to any reason you may not be able to boot up you equipment, in this case 350D, with a corrupted firmware.

Make sure your battery is fully charge when you are updating the firmware and do not friget with the camera while the upgrading is in progress to avoid accidently shutting down the camera or interrupt the upgrading.

It is always kind of nerve breaking for me each time I upgrade any firmware of any equipment, may be because I have wasted in the past some very good and expensive stuff like my pc motherboard or a electronic gadget.

Good luck.. but i think one should upgrade to the new firmware since it fixed some of the common problems.

i have successfully did mine. i was seamless actually. but it was nerve racking when it was in the midst of updating the frmmware. the percentage completed just move damn slow!!!! i thought the update will be very fast like within seconds... instead it made held breathe for one minute......

wah seh. that 1 min could mean going down to Harbour front of going out on that day to shoot pics.....
LOL

mine was a peaceful experience. But I did not seem to have any problem on the "Auto Power-Off" > 4 Minutes, even prior to upgrade..

Post firmware upgrade, exposures seem to be more sensible..

hmm u are quite right on the exposure part. afte r i upgraded my firmware, i went for a street photog shoot, founf out that my pics were more correctly expose on the whole.(using evaluative) compared to before. the lcd also had a more accurate reproduction of the pic colour also compared to the older firmware. just my 2cts......

on the whole i feel more better with the new firmware. one problem which i have notice is the focusing on the background. i set mine to one point AF pointed my af sleected point to the subject but it fcused the background. Or maybe itsj ust only me???

Hmm... No firmware releases for 300D yet?

Sigh... I'm still naively hoping for the official firmware instead of using Wasia.
