I can't answer for every Nikonian, but in my clique, what happens is those shooting with Nikkors, start with AF lenses, and gradually phase them out for the older MF lenses. It is in their opinion that the optical quality of the later Nikkor AF lenses are not in the same quality as the older Nikkor MF lenses.
Just one possibility, don't take it as the only reason. |

Even if you wanted older MF lenses, the stock in Singapore is really limited. However, the closest country in asia that would have large stocks of such old lenses would be in Hong Kong.
I was there recently and they were still selling the old FD 85 f/1.2L lens. I was a little surprised to see that shops were still selling it in brand new. |

maybe it's just that TCW is more popular among Nikonians for buying/selling used Nikon stuff.

From my limited knowledge, F mount has a longer history and one of the big 2 brand on SLR lens.
Combine this 2 and you get lots of 2nd hand lens. Another theory could be TCW pays better for nikkors than others.
