Talking A70 users who want a cheap upgrade look here

you all first hear my story first, then share my joy with me

Last thursday, my camera ccd fail on me.. can only take black and purple photos. then i sian tiao, so on friday morning i brought it to the service centre see what they can do... den the sickening sales staff at the table jus test ONCE then he press press press the calculator and said to me.. "so your cost would be $135 without GST." DEN I EVEN MORE SIAN. but no choice ma. better than paying 140plus den havin to buy a new compact cam so i say carry on with repair lor.

den today the repair man call again. i thot sian le. haha. cuz must go and pay repair fees. but he told me instead, " I'm sorry. we have run out of the ccd for the canon a70 and it'll take at least 1month to ship..." so i sighh "... however you can choose to participate in our EXCHANGE PROGRAM. "

here comes the good part

"with the same amount, you can get a a95 along with complimentary cables, box and manuals. so can i carry on with the transaction?"

OF COURSE I SAY YES YES YES!!!

cool man. i pay $142 to trade in my spoilt A70 for a A95. xP

CANON ROCKS

Default a70 and a95

it looks to me like this :-
(I imagine only)

Canon realised A70 got serious QC faults
but cannot just recall the whole lot
when users bring in for repair, they will offer this upgrade to A95.
this is their way of compensating you.
but at the same time no need to admit the A70 got serious problem.
(the A70 is Made in Malaysia)
admitting it will mean very serious damage to their reputation
can also cause $ loss as they have to compensate full price

that is why the tech at counter pressed the calculator just once.
they already know what to say to you the moment you took out a A70.

I think your very valuable feedback to us CS users is not to buy A70.

Thanks again.

haha.

maybe not i guess.

my a70 has accompanied me for 1.5 yrs already which was bought second hand from another guy who used it for 6months.

and my a70 has been thru with me in some pretty rough times.

from ubin trips to being dropped on a breakwater patch to being left around in my bag(my bag is thrown ard most of the time) and my scratches on my body is jus testimoney of the level of 'care' i put to my A70. and oh ya. my bro who brought it up to mount ophir and batu caves. i dunno what kinda of care he took either.

but who cares. i think its particularly worth it if I can trade in for a whole new 5MP cam with a swivel LCD.

kinda rockin' deal. haha

There is an inherent problem with the A70 sensor - I have 2 personal friends with A70s that just decided to die on them and got exactly the same deal. The 2 A70s died within a month of each other.

Just another 2 A70 failures.

So if your A70 dies, you know what to do..,.

that's really alot, they just don't want many people to abuse their A70 to enjoy the "upgrade".Be careful, they may be watching.

i dont abuse my A70. I have got an EOS 10D to use
A70 is for events like meeting up with friends, or those where bring a huge DSLR seems ridiculous.

btw A70 seems to be still working fine in all aspects
