Dear All,
How are you guys?? This is my 1st post in this forum... Hope anyone could help. I have a problem during continuous shooting like "machine gun" mode using the 10D. I only got 1 or 2 images in sharp focus in like 10 images shot. I cannot maintain sharp focus throughout the continuous shooting process. Is it meant to be like that or I did not set it up correctly? Maybe it can only be achieved by using 20D or higher bodies like 1D class?? In this scenario, I mount my 300/f4 + 1.4TC to my 10D body with abt F8, ISO 400. Hope someone can enlighten me on that. Thanks in advance. Cheers, eAgles ![]() |

did u change ur AF to AF Servo mode? I tried taking photo in burst mode with AF set to servo and the picture came out in focus even when I moved the camera....
there is one time when burst mode started with the image out of focus, but slowly got into focus after the 3rd pics.... |

Thanks, Glyyde!!!
You da man!!! I forgot to switch to AI Servo. But then again, I go check the manual. I am already at AI focus, so it will auto-switch if subject moves. In this case, it is a bird about 2m away. Eqpt is 10D+1.4TC+300/f4. Maybe, I should use all the 9 pts instead of just centre focus. Hmmm... or the focus is just too slow to keep up with the burst mode. ?? Need fast bodies and better lenses??Cheers! Last edited by eAgles; 17th June 2005 at 08:25 PM. |

AI-AF never kicks in when needed and always comes up when I focus-recompose.

wai, your camera body is capable, dun think his 10D can scratch yours...
btw i think your shutter too fast for the drift, the wheel seem like not moving...

Hmm... looks like a 10D body issue then. I already use centre point AF spot only but I use AI Focus instead of AI Servo. Maybe the AI Focus is not so smart after all ...
Or could it be I am already at F8 and the focus hunts too much at low light and will not work well with a 10D body. I heard f5.6 is norm. When you guys say F8, is it the aperture setting you choose or the physical aperture ie. for my case 300mm/f4 + 1.4TC gives me f5.6, still can AF, right?? Thank! ![]() |

Using AI servo say for a fashion show.... do u use center focus & focus on model face then recompose & hold onto e shutter button. Will e camera keep using AI servo to lock on the face? I dun think so right...it will only lock onto the current center focus point (eg. e model's body)

many years ago used to shoot those fashion shows, not nowadays.
'fever' now over. used the eos 1-N for catwalk with ai servo always got sharp shots, checked my provia shots with a scheider loupe on a light box. i take vertical shots for cat walk, camera tilted sideways so using the top or 2nd top sensor as it will be roughly model's head. the focus speed of the lens also helps. so far the 70-200 f2.8 L never failed me. it is true that the centre focus spot is the most sensitive of all. if you have a low light situation and subject is dead centre, you can use that |
