Hi all,
I am new and thinking to buy a new DSLR. I don't know which is better choice. D70S, D50 or 350D. 1. D50 have less noise at high ISO than D70s . are the noise is important factor? If I select high ISO, I can select bigger f under the same shuttle speed. any effect on the photo? 2. The feature between D70s and D50 is significant? thanks. |

Hi Kacang,
Congrats on taking up photography. You said you're new, so does that mean you have zero experience regarding photography or you're new to DSLRs? If you currently own neither Canon nor Nikon equipment, I'd say either brand will serve you well. You might like to do a search on the Canon or Nikon cameras in this forum. Many folks have asked the same questions as you. To search just log in with your user ID and password and click on Search. Also check out www.dpreview.com or www.steves-digicams.com. After that visit the shops to physically check out the cameras before buying. Or if you know someone who owns the cameras to allow you to test. Everything can be very confusing at first. Relax and take your time since photography isn't exactly a cheap hobby. Enjoy!

Hi Kacang,
I am also a newbie to DSLR, just bought a D70s last week. Before taking up DSLR, i was using a Oly C5050Z and i get to shoot in aperture/shutter priority modes and of course the manual mode. It has helped me to learn the basic of photography. f-stops, shutter speeds, WB, blar blar. If you are moving fr a prosumer cam to a DSLR, I think you shld nt have much problem except you have to read, practice, get feedback (lots of experts in CS). In this way, you shld be able to get a hang of your camera. As for the choice of brands-Canon and Nikon are reputable brands and in my opinion both cameras: 350D and D70s are gd cameras. Personally, i choose the latter because it has better handling. 350D is rather small DSLR and i have big hands so it does not suit me. Ultimately, you are the user and you shld feel comfortable with the camera. Our comments to you are just additional info which you may want to take into consideration. Cheers ![]()

Hewland,
You are right. I am totally new in DSLR. I owned kodak DX7630 currently. quite nice camera. I understand both 350d and D70s is good camera. since I don't have any lens, I think to choice a better system. (actually both system is great) Most of my friend own D70, they are strongly recommand this model. But 350d is having a very good review in few forums. I will take more photo in landscape than other. may be few in stage performance. High ISO will have more advantage in stage performance.(no flash) very confuse................. |

dun think u can find any bad reviews on these 2 camera , web sites and magazine generally dun do that... just like tv shows doing food review ... when taking pics in low light , e.g. wedding, stage performance, high ISO is not enough , you need a fast len (aka more expensive) since most of ur friends r having nikon, 1 advantage of having nikon is ... u can borrow lens from them finally, what we can offer is only advise, u have to try the cameras yourself ... my 2 cents |

HI nemesis32
I read from the forum below: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...ssage=13770240 they claim that the D50 noise even better than 350d ??? if it is true, D50 is worth to buy??? |

Yups... Think that it's true that sharing things can prove to be extremely impt to someone starting out... And also in terms of Support... I mean if you take some weird photos and you dunno why, your frens might be able to check your settings for you... If you are using canon... they probably would say "i dunno?" haha... And sharing things like lenses and stuff allows you to play with equipment you dun necessarily need to buy... Maybe borrow for a 1 time use... so... I would go with Nikon unless you think that your friends will not be lending you their lenses or equipment.. ![]() |
