don't know what you mean by canon strap, if its the one that came with the camera, I'm not using anymore, changed to optech, otherwise carrying heavy lens like bigma etc will strain my neck

The Optech strap "feels" lighter and is quite comfortable as it is padded. But I agree with xl1 that it's ok for lighter systems and doesn't "feel" right for the long lenses and heavier setups.
I suppose psychologically, the snap lock on the strap gives the impression that this is a weak link which may give way under a large load, and not the strap itself. Not sure if there's an Optech version without this detachable link. |

Conversely, where to buy good wrist strap for cameras?
My cameras are all smallish (like Canon A80, S2, Oly 7x0), and I perfer to use wrist strap than neck strap. (Don't like to hang a camera and look like tourist Also afraid it will take some bumps if I am not careful, or my chest may get blue black at the end of the day . I prefer to wear a waist pouch and drop my camera inside when not in use.)Many cameras of such size only comes with neck strap. I can find wrist straps in mobile phone shops, but they are typically too short (more like palm strap for ladies hands, hard to quickly loop around my wrist when picking up a camera) or too long (meant more for hanging mobile phone from the neck), and they come with quick release, which is dangerous for cameras. |

I don't think you have used an Optech strap before. It may feel like foam but it's actually a solid strap that is padded with foam, so there is no elasticity, if that is what you are referring to.

Like I have said, I will look for the grip as I find it easier that the neck strap. This is for the S2 i recently bought. Having fun with the cam and lovin' every minute of it. |

The blue and red canon neck strap comes along with my 20d purchase. Maybe u can try TCW to check if they have any or call up Canon at Harbourfront to enquire.

I also have the Hakuba handgrip attached to my cam, so I can loosen my grip on my cam when carrying it. B4 I used the Hakuba, I had to grip my cam rather tight and that makes my fingers hurt.

Just changed my original strap to an Optech one...was carring my camera today with a 70-200f2.8 IS and it was a bit bouncy on my shoulders, but I don't feel the weight at all!!

Popular shops like Cathay Photo, MS Color, etc all should have Optech USA straps. I'm using the thicker pro-loop.

normal strap have more friction than optech strap so it feels more secure when hanging off the shoulder. the only flaw with optech strap is that it use elastic material to provide a sensation of reduced weight but at the expense of less friction(secureness) and more bounciness

i hold my lens, not the body when im run, and when use 2 cam with 2 diff lens i found its to bouncy when im using optech, i try before 2 types of optech none of them gives me secure feel. anyway, if use small body and lens yes i agree it is very good and smooth.
