Haha.. me first time using D70... so not too sure wat I did.

Whatever you're doing, keep doing it..

Did you use the inetrnal flash or an external one?

to balance the background, use lower shutter, eg 1/30 or 1/15, then background will be well lit

Yes I used shutter priority at 1/30 to get brighter background.
