From friend or shop? If its a canon mount then theres no problem! Still worried? Bring your camera down for testing before buying

better bring your camera to test first. some older sigma lens needs rechipping to work.

Yeap, better bring your camera down to test. I have an old Sigma lens which works happily in EOS 100 but I keep getting Err99 when use in EOS 20D.

Yes, do test it out first. Test it out in different lighting conditions and using different aperture/shutter settings.

I was trying out an older sigma which worked at max aperture but gave the Err99 when stopped down.

Tip 1.
always bring down your camera when buying lenses, even if buying direct from shop, otherwise you might pick a lemon lens without even knowing it.

heavy better than losing 700+ on a lens right.
