Hi all,
I juz bought a 60mm f2.8 micro nikkor lens. I'm a bit new to macro shooting and would like some advise/info on this lens. 1. When I focus on close objects in Aperture Priority, the lowest f number I can go to is f3.3. Is this normal? The f number can be increased when the object is further away. The lens won't allow me to select f2.8 for macro shots? Or is it up to a certain distance? 2. How would one go about maximising the features/capabilities of this lens? Thanks in advance for all help rendered. |

1) Do a search, discussed many times.
2) Shoot more Understand it's features and strengths, know what it can do and shoot more. |

Thanks for the info. I was a bit worried there when I couldn't select f2.8. I thought I bought a defective lens. Was going to send to Nikon repair shop already.

Come to think of it, why do you need 2.8? At the in-yer-face distances you are shooting, the difference between 2.8 and 3.3 is really negligible - the DOF is way shallower than a kids' wading pool.
I've experienced the same phenomena with my Tamron 90mm Macro too. Your Nikkor isn't going insane. Enjoy yr new glass! |
