    Merlion on the Bay

    Organised by Singapore Tourism Board, The Fullerton Singapore and The Photographic Society of Singapore

    Singapore's Merlion celebrates its 30th birthday on September 15, 2002. On that day, the Merlion will be officially unveiled at its new home located at the promontory adjacent to The Fullerton Singapore's waterfront dining and entertainment complex, known as One Fullerton, and overlooking the Marina Bay. To celebrate this historic occasion, the Singapore Tourism Board, The Fullerton Singapore and The Photographic Society of Singapore are organising a worldwide photography competition to welcome entries of your favourite photographs of the Merlion.

    Theme
    The theme for this competition is "Merlion on the Bay". Entries to this competition should capture the beauty and grandeur of the Merlion at its new location. Photography must be conducted from 15 September 2002.


    Prizes
    1st Prize : SGD 15,000
    2nd Prize: SGD 10,000
    3rd Prize : SGD 5,000
    10 Consolation Prizes: SGD 300 each

    Rules and Regulations
    [list=1][*] This competition is open to persons of all nationalities, who at the time of entering this competition, are aged 18 years and above. However, staff and immediate family members of the Singapore Tourism Board, The Fullerton Singapore, The Photographic Society of Singapore and any of the sponsors of this competition, shall not be eligible to participate in this competition.
    [*] Each participant may submit up to a maximum of eight (8) entries.

    [*] Participants may submit either colour or monochrome images as entries to this competition. All entries, including digital photographs, must be submitted as photographic prints (i.e. on paper).
    [*] All photographic prints should be submitted on either 8R (8"x 10" or 20cm x 25cm; not mounted) or Super8R (8"x 12" or 20cm x 30cm; not mounted) photographic paper. Such entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form and should be sent by mail or pre-paid courier to the following address:

    [*] Each entry shall be the sole and original work of the participant. By entering this competition, each participant warrants that he or she is the sole author and owner of the copyright in and to all photos that he or she submits as entries to this competition and undertakes that he or she shall indemnify and hold harmless the organisers from and against any and all liability, loss, damage, costs and expenses in relation to any claim or action brought against the organisers arising out of or in relation to a breach of this warranty.

    [*] The copyright to all photographs will remain the property of the photographer. However, by entering this competition, each participant grants the organisers and its licensees a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, reproduce, publish or exhibit any and all such photographs in any medium whatsoever for such purposes as the organisers shall deem fit.

    [*] All entries submitted to this competition are non-returnable.

    [*] All entries must be received by the closing date of 15 November 2002. Proof of posting does not mean proof of receipt.

    [*] All entries will be judged on their relevance to the theme of this competition, creativity and overall technical quality.

    [*] The decisions of the judges of this competition are final and no correspondence or discussion regarding their decisions will be entertained.

    [*] A participant who is awarded one of the top three prizes will not be awarded either of the remaining two top prizes for his or her other entries. However, participants may win any number of the 10 consolation prizes available.

    [*] By entering this contest, all participants agree that they may be interviewed and featured in the organisers' publicity materials.

    [*] All prize-winners will be notified by post and invited to attend an award ceremony in Singapore on Wednesday, 18 December 2002. However, they shall not be eligible to collect their prize(s) unless they submit the negatives, transparencies, or original high-resolution digital image files of minimum 3 megapixels (2000 x 1600 pixels) of their winning photograph(s) to the address stated in paragraph 4 above, and within (14) days of the date of the organisers' said notification. Any such negatives, transparencies or original high-resolution digital image files submitted are non-returnable.

    [*] Overseas participants who win any of the top three prizes will be invited to the prize presentation in Singapore. Each winner will be provided with a single return Singapore Airlines economy class air ticket to Singapore departing from an airport of the organisers' choice and two nights' accommodation at The Fullerton Singapore. However, the organisers' provision of the such travel and accommodation is subject to availability, and the organisers shall have the right at all times to make changes to such travel or accommodation arrangements without prior notice.

    [*] Prizes are non-transferable.

    [*] The organisers shall not be liable for any damage, loss, injury or inconvenience suffered by any participant arising out of or in connection with his or her entry in this competition or the prize(s) awarded to him or her.

    [*] The prizes may be subject to taxes, foreign duties, miscellaneous fees charged by local bank (if any), as applicable in the country of the participant. Such taxes, foreign duties, miscellaneous fees charged by local bank (if any) are the sole responsibility of the winners.

    [*] The submission of an entry/entries signifies the participant's acceptance of the rules and regulations as stated above, which are governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore and the participant submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts in the determination of any matter or dispute arising in connection with this competition or these rules and regulations.

    [*] The organisers reserve the right to vary any of these rules or regulations at its discretion and without prior notice.

    [*] These Rules and Regulations are made in the English language. If any conflict in meaning arises between the English language version of these Rules and Regulations and any version or translation thereof in any other language, the version in English shall prevail as the authoritative version.[/list=1]
