Default FZ5+TCON at wide angle vignetts unsymetric horizontally

Heard the issues about when FZ5 uses with T-CON at wide angle will vignetts horizontally but 'unsymetric', more left or more to the right, is it true..?, is it the same(normal) with all lumix FZ5??, how bout yours??

Thanks

My FZ5 wit TCON-17 will vignett more to the right at 1X-3X.
But most likely this is due to the weight of the TC that causes the tilt.

in the first place, when using a TCON, one should use it with say, 9X to 12X zoom, other wise defeat the purpose of using a TCON right? at 9X to 12X, you will not get any vignetting.

hmmmm isn't it silly to use (say, 1.7x) T-con say at anything less 7X (7X * 1.7 = 12X)?
i zoom in 2X, I will get a better image than u will, using 1X with t-con 1.7X.

now, if using w-con and u get vigenetting, then that's a problem...

precisely the point, well said.

normally, if the WCON is a good quality one such as the Olympus WCON08/07, there is no vignetting issue when used with the FZ1/3/5 but I can't say the same for those 'funny' super wide 0.45X~0.6X brands.

Default Thanks guys..

Thanks guys...

But how to make a firm connection to the plastic adapter?, is it safe to connect the Oly TCon17 (260gr) to the Hoya hmc UV filter, then the back threads of the UV to the FZ5 adapter? (>>>FZ5's adapter -- HMC UV -- Oly TCon17<<<) , so we can leave the UV permanently as a protector..??? , can we make a strong connection with this scene?, so the plastic adapter is not going tired and wear in too fast.

How deep & secure is the connection between UV and the adater?, I heard that they just have one full turn slide, so I doubt they'll make a safe connect with the TCon17 without modifying the adapter.., But what about others UV filter?, or any other solutions?

don't do that!!

when connecting the TCON17 to the tube of your FZ5, MUST remove any filters first, otherwise, optical quality will be degraded. in other words, only mount your TCON to the tube and NOTHING else. forget about the UV filter, it won't offer you anything when using the TCON17.

you are right, the plastic tube is quite filmsy, that is a pet peeve of mine when using the FZ3, so when shooting, use your left hand to support the camera by holding onto the TCON17 and the tube together for best stability and reduce stress of the weight.

TCON-17 you mean? Brand new think around $180~200? Can't remember how much I bought mine.

BTW, in case you interested, I am selling mine here. Still very new and clean in mint condition, not used after I sold my FZ3.

Actually, an alternative adaptor made of a metal alloy is available that enables heavier lenses (such as the TCON-17, described above) to be used without the possible hazard of breaking the plastic adaptor. This alloy adaptor is made in Japan by Mr Yoshida and can be purchased for US$58 from: http://butabara-tec.com/

It is really nice and well made.

Wanted to buy it back then when I was having fun with my FZ3 but gave up the idea when I sold it.

Thx Tao, but I think the included plastic adapter for the FZ3 is a little different with those FZ5, the later being 1mm more recessed at the front before the threads start, and that FZ5 zooming more forward a few mm when at max zoom, from what I heard thought..!?, so I assume that the Mr Yoshida's adpter for FZ3 is not compatible, need your opinion, thx.

Vitus, are you sure that the non symetric only due to TC17 weight causing the tilt?, so can we counter tilt them?, what about other guys experience?

thx,

You are right. But I think that Yoshida-San will be doing another tube for the FZ5. I suggest you email him to check. Good luck!

ya.. it's different..
the adapter, to install, you need to unscrew from FZ3..
FZ5 there's no more screw!!!!!!

Hello.
The adaptor for FZ5 is not produced.
Moreover, production is not scheduled.

Thank you.
