Default Convergent Systems/Lexar Media issue

In light of the recent event (Lexar CF cards issue/un-happy Customer with Convergent support) on Clubsnap, please accept our sincere apology for those affected.

On bad customer support:
The whole issue has been brought up to our management for review.

On Lexar CF card issue:
This is something which Convergent did not anticipate (don't think anyone has) and we are trying our best to work with Lexar on a buffer stock support which we can replace your card immediately without you leaving it for "months".

We do not have an exact date on when the buffer stock is arriving but as far as we know, Lexar Media is working on it 24hrs a day.

We will post up whatever updates that we have on Clubsnap/Canon.

To the Admins: We are sorry for any mis-understanding cause.

To CS Members: we are in the mids of shifting our office and do not have the capability to reply to any posting immediately like previously, but we will try to come here every day to reply to any question or enquiry from any member.

Here's our new office address:

Convergent Systems (S) Pte. Ltd.
60 Albert Street
#11-01 Albert Complex
Singapore 189969
(Also known as OG Building, opposite Sim Lim Square)

Operational date: 1st July 2005

We will have a bigger and more comfortable RMA corner where water/newspaper/magazine (suggestion are welcome unless you guys are happy with Photo i) will be made available while you wait for your RMA items.

Convergent, thanks for your response.

I do have a Lexar 80X 1GB CF card with microcode A4B6. Can I bring it down to the office to change to update the microcode or exchange for one with the newer micocode to fix the Canon DSLR/Lexar incompatibility issue?

I'm very satisfied with Convergent's RMA services even though I had to queue/wait for at least 10-15 mins. Of course, I hope I won't need to visit your office.

Yep again I want to let you guys know that Convergent Systems is doing their best to make everyone happy. Mind you that they do not only deal with Clubsnappers only but the rest of the world too. So their task is quite taxing as well.

It would be good if you can open 24/7 for RMA just in case, of course, just wishful thinking

Will be going down later to RMA my Lexar card, hopefully I can get an immediate replacement. Anyway, I suggest a coffee/tea making machine to be placed at the RMA counter in your new office, similar to the one found in Canon's service centre in Harbour Front.

No I'm sorry, we do not have immediate stock to replace you. The new firmware stock is not in Singapore yet.

What is the procedure to do this? One for one exchange on the spot? Do we need to bring receipt or anything?

Sigh, I just had my konked-out 40X replaced by an 80X by Convergent last week, after a few months' waiting for 40X stocks. And the guy the assured me that this new 80X card was not affected by the Canon-Lexar issue.

So when can we replace our Lexar 1gb card?
What is the procedure? 1 to 1 replacement or need to wait after submit the
faulty card?

Default Told to wait.

Went to Convergent office @ Sim Lim yesterday (18-June). Only to be told to wait @ this channel for announcement when the replacement card would be available.

sigh..before the new cards arrive, is it possible for convergent to loan us some other cards to use? I dont mind 2 x 1GB or 4 x 512MB, I can live with slower speed card, but not lost images.

I have tried upgrade the firmware on the MKII and look like it became worse, i can lost 5-7 images consecutively and btw, i was shooting single shot mode in jpeg only...never burst but yet i got so many lost images.

luckily i still manage to recover all the important images

Precisely, i have to buy another CF card for my HK trip. My lexar is very capable of becoming "corrupted" and this problem can only be resolved by formatting it.

i was too late to get another CF card when i left for my 2 weeks trip, at first i tot the problem will not happen to me if i just shoot medium jpeg in one shot mode

however i was wrong when i realise many important pictures went missing

luckily i manage to recover them using software

You might want to check if there's some problem with your camera buffer.

There's 2 ways you can verify what actualy went wrong.

1: Shoot with another camera or another make camera with your "Problem" card.

2: Try another brand card on your current camera.
