Yesterday I went Chinatown to shoot timelapse, I reach the location about 6.15pm, surprisingly the best spot already chopped by another young photographer, so I set up beside him. Waiting for the magic hour.
I run a quick timelapse sequence first, I plan my main shot will start from 7.00pm to 7.40pm.
soon after some more photographers shown up, even have videographers, I guess they are shooting for commercial footages.
there is a small space between the first photographer who came earliest and my spot, too small for set up a tripod but still can shoot from here with handheld, a lady try to shoot the scene with iphone, I gentle remind her try not to stick her hand too far out as it will show up in my frame.
about 7.20pm another young photographers came up to the roof top, but all the usable spots are already taken, he carry a not so small shoulder bag but didn't bring a tripod, so he try to shoot from the small pocket between the first photographer and me.
as he still slinging his camera bag while shooting handheld, I have to keep an eye on his bag, my hand is standing by in case his bag knock on my tripod, if this happen than all my efforts for the night will be ruined.
but when I notice he stick his hand too far out, it already too late. his hands and camera are show up in my frame. So I told him to pull his hands back.
Lesson learnt, next time can not be so nice guy, must tell people don't get so close to my tripod, must tell them where the boundary is safe to shoot.
Fortunately my photoshop skills still passable, can remove the hands and camera from the shots, this timelapse sequence is saved.
