Default Olympus C5050 LCD can turn OFF?

Is there a way to turn off the rear LCD of the Olympus C5050? I press the quick view button, it goes to photography setting and LCD still ON. I want to preserve battery and use only the viewfinder, so is there a way to turn off the LCD?

I have owned this cam for a long time, but shame to say that still don't know if possible to turn off the LCD...

Of course it can be switched off, otherwise it will be a battery drainer!

Controls on the back:
AEL auto exposure lock, Quick View for image review and it also turns the color LCD on/off.
The 4-way "Arrow Controls" for navigating menus, changing settings and selecting playback images.
The OK button accepts menu selections and calls up the menu.
The CF/xD-SM button selects the desired storage media.

By right, if you press the quick view button, the LCD should turn off.

If you press that button twice, you will go to image preview.

That is how that button works since the days of the first C-series such as the C-2000.

If cannot, could mean that your button is faulty?

still can't off the LCD. Press the quick view once to go to the shooting setting (LCD ON), press again go to LCD view of the shooting (LCD ON).

Am I missing something?

Thats weird, for me, just pressing the Quick View once, the LCD is off, Double press it, it will go to Preview. Press once again, LCD will be back On/Off (depending on whether if it's on or off before going into Preview).

or maybe u are in the settings when u press once on the Quick View. Try exiting it by press OK before u try pressing Quick View.

Hope that will help a little~ =)

It's strange that when you press the Quick View you go into the camera settings. You can only enter the camera settings when you press the OK button.

When you are seeing the subject's image on the LCD you press the Quick View once to turn it off. Double press it to preview the previous image you may have captured. Press it once to go back to viewing in real time.

If all of this doesn't work, then your Quick View button is probably not working and you should send it back to Olympus for repair. If you just bought it and have not filled in the warranty card you may try to bring it back to the retailer to complain and you may get an exchange.

Similar for mine too, I can turn off my LCD by the steps you described. Usually I don't use the LCD for composition becos it's a battery drainer.

Ya, usually i off it to save some battery -__-;;, at nite time, i also felt that viewing thru the view-finder is better than using the LCD screen. =)
