a choice btw 2 lenses

hi guys & gals,

i'm currently torn btw making a purchase decision over 2 lenses..
sigma 20-40mm f/2.8 and tamron 17-35 f/2.8-4.0

my current setup involves a d70 coupled w/ a tamron 90mm (yummy pics for portraits) and a nikkor 80-200 (tele purpose), plus the kit lens 18-70mm.

my objective is to replace the kit lens w/ a sharper WA lens to cover landscape as well as general purpose shooting (incl events coverage).

can any kind souls share your advice?
of cse, i wish i had the budget for the legendary nikkor 17-35 f/2.8.. but nah, dream on!

(i'm a realistic hobbyist, after all)
