    Few ways to remove,

    1. rubber band on the filter and twist (not effective if filter is thin ring)
    2. rubber or foam (those with friction) sheet on table, press lens with filter down on the pad (filter on the pad), hold on to the lens, press down and give it a good twist... Remember to twist in the correct direction.
    3. Use a filter wrench (or go to a store that has filter wrenches)
    4. Cut the filter ring... (last resort)

    Ev0lutionz,

filter stuck to the hood or lens?

If lens, Daredevil's point 2 using using rubber pad worked.

My colleague cracked a UV filter, on his 67mm lens of Canon D60. I placed the lens on a mouse pad, applied a direct force perpendicularly and turned in the opposite direction. (oppo compared when you put on the filter to the lens)

Whoa lah! the jammed filter loosen.

As mentioned, before you start, make sure you remember what direction you turned when put the filter onto the lens earlier.

My colleague panic. When he wanted to take out the filter, he kept turning the same direction as he put on the filter. He was on the verge to use a plier to tear the filter ring.

    Thank You

Most screws the screwing IN direction is clockwise. Screw out is anti-clockwise. Only certain things or equipment due to way it operate, it another way round. Eg the screw knot that secure the fan blades of the fan.

So for filter is the same (facing the front of lens), clockwise turn IN, anti-clockwise turn OUT.
