Default MO: Metz flash and adaptors direct from Germany

I have enquired most camera shops in Singapore, and they don't seem to have a lot of Metz flash or adapters available. Even J&J no longer brings them in.

I have a friend in Germany, and he has helped me ship in an SCA adaptor, 3602 M4 (for Sony F828). Now that I have bought another Nikon DSLR, I have intention to order another SCA adaptor 3402 M3 (or perhaps a flash unit), so I'd like to take this opportunity to ask around if anyone wants to join the purchase. Since the SCA adaptor is small and light, the shipment fee may be the same up to a certain number of adaptors, thus it's cheaper than shipping one-on-one.

It's almost impossible to find a German online shop that ships overseas. Even if there is, the shipment is usually very very expensive. I am also not aware of any other countries outside Europe that sells Metz units - if you know any, please share!

My previous order from my friend costs me about 70 Euros including 2 shipment fees (the item costs 48 Euros, plus shipment fee to his house, then another shipment fee to Singapore). And I pay him via Paypal.

If you are interested, you may reply to this thread or PM me. Cheers!

68.44 euro is about 140? thats about 20 bucks cheaper than CP quoted price... (provided like wat CP said, all adapters are about the same price)

I am also interested in getting an SCA adaptor, 3102 M3 for Canon to be exact.

It seems J & J is not interested in bringing new Metz products to Singapore. We enthusiasts bought into the Metz system so that we have the flexibility to change adaptors to suit the different camera makes or to change adaptors when the old ones become incompatible due to new camera bodies.

I'm so touched to see so many people who continues to support Metz system. I have not worked out the details on payment yet, so if you people have any cost-saving methods, do let me know. For now, I can only think of Paypal fund transfer to my Germany friend. And between us, we could either do fund transfer or face-to-face cash transfer.

As of now, my friend will purchase the items from German online merchants, as he does not scourge around the city to get the best deals (he's a working professional). Therefore, to save money on shipment, I would prefer to order all items from a single merchant, so that all items can be shipped to him in a single shipment fee (better for us). The trade-off is that some items may be cheaper from another online merchant, so hope you understand.

Some people may ask: why not buy direct from the Germany retail shops which could be even cheaper? Well, firstly, my friend is not a photographic guru, so I doubt he will know where to get the best deals. Who knows, he may get conned by rouge dealers the likes of SLS. Secondly, the prices is already quite good online, and it is more transparent this way since we can all know the prices of the item. Finally, I don't want to create too much inconvenience to my friend. Afterall, it's a favour, not a business.

For those who are interested, just reply this thread with the exact model name. You can search for the model and price in Google to set the expectations. Check only the German online prices, please.

No obligations! Just post your interest, let me gather the figures then ask my German friend if he can find out the actual cost, then I will get back to you guys and see if you still want to go ahead with the purchase.

Final note: although these items carry standard warranty within Germany, I assume adaptors do not spoil easily, so lack of warranty should not be a major concern (we all believe in German quality, rite?).

Thumbs up

I'd be interested in a SCA351 adapter for 54 MZ-4 to be mounted on a Leica R7. Have been waiting more than 6 months for word from J&J direct, CP and AP.

Thanks for getting this off the ground.

Hi all,
To check prices, you can easily check by doing a Google search. Seriously, most of the sites are in German, that shows how available Metz products are outside Germany. Can't read? Use the google translator!

I believe these sites offer pretty good prices, so just go there and search for your product and check out the prices.

NURTEC - http://secure.nurtec.de/cgi-bin/nurt...Due&mv_arg=645
SCA adaptors are from Euro 38.95 onwards

Fotopoint - http://www.fotopoint.de/fotopoint.st...48cf7b34fbca5b
Metz 54 MZ-4iN is Euro 329

I'm in need of 2 battery holders for the Metz 45 CL1. J&J doesn't bring this in anymore.

I've checked with my German friend. The prices are as follows:

SCA 3102 M3 Canon - S$105 (including shipment)
SCA 3602 M4 Sony - S$123 (including shipment)

The above estimate is based on 3 persons sharing the shipping cost. If more people orders, shipping will be reduced proportionately.

Currently SCA 3402 M4 Nikon is out of stock, but you can get it locally at Alan Photo. SCA 351 Leica is not available.

I will PM to all who has placed order and see the response. Cheers!

Hi all,
The following people have confirmed their interest:

Tumbleweed-SCA 3102 M3 (Canon)
skf-SCA 3102 M3 (Canon)
JaGr-SCA 3602 M4 (Sony)

Any more orders? The following models are also available for MO:

SCA 3402 M4 for Nikon S$105 (estd)
SCA 3202 M4 Olympus D S$105 (estd)
SCA 3083 digital slave S$105 (estd)

For the interest of all members, if any of you people find that these models are on sale in Singapore, please enlighten us! The only model I know found in Singapore is SCA 3402 M4, selling at Alan Photo for S$105.

For new readers info, this MO benefits people who wants the Metz SCA adaptors but local distributor takes too long to bring them in.
