    Well, the govt. can try. We'll be the first again. First in the world to charge bike tax and parking fees.

    It's likely that THAT characteristic family of four goes about in a car on most days hahahahaha

    sometimes, its better to have short memory so pain goes away more easily. there is nothing we can do. start a forum to discuss issues that affect us, the average people (he can recommand someone who can help set up the forum if you dont know how)?

    I was going to ask how...but I think I'll leave it alone and take your word for it.

    I have no clue how they came up with the $144 either. I spend more than that all by myself! Not counting taxi fare! (but heng I can claim for most of the taxi fare from the company)

    siao ah, i take shutter service to gombak mrt, gombak mrt to aljunide mrt, than 125 to company . how did they get $144 for the whole family ???? wonder which company did PTC engage to conduct the survey .

    then again, propably is the system they have, always use the cheapest source you can find, quality not important.

    In TODAY paper, it stated that the characteristic family cosists of:-
    a) 1 adult commutes to work by train, with one transfer on a feeder bus;
    b) 1 adult uses trunk buses;
    c) 1 secondary school student using a concession pass; and
    d) 1 primary school student walks to school.

    Same for me

    To Office
    a) Take feeder bus to Interchange = $0.70
    b) Take MRT = $1.60
    c) Take feeder bus to workplace = $0.70
    Minus rebates = 2 x $0.25 = $0.50
    Total to-&-fro from office per day = $5.50
    Average 20 days = $5.50 x 20 = $110

    Hi, it's actually an article written by some writer-lawyer. You can get the online version at http://pdf.todayonline.com/pdf_mid.asp?pubdate=20050603&menu=&publication=

    Perhaps the assumption could be based on:
    - 1 working adult
    - 1 housewife
    - 1 kindergarten kid who studies downstairs at the void deck *** kindergarten
    - 1 baby

    so base on snowspeeder's assumption :

    $144.00 - $110.00 = $34.00

    for the family to go out, just to take the shutter service

    $2.80 (2 adult, round trip)

    so the family can go out

    $34.00 / $2.80 = 12 times a month.

    if they go further, say shutter service, longest trip on mrt, end to end.

    $2.80 + $3.20 - $1.00 = $5.00

    so the family can go out

    $34.00 / $5.00 = 6.5 times.

    thats quite a tight budget, dont you think so. unless the family dont go out at all, than they can even save $34.00 / month!!! more milk powder for the baby.
