Interesting thing about stainless steel is that it will hold up quite well if immersed in water, can be saltwater, that has supply of oxygen. It'll form an oxide film that protects it.

If immersed in stagnant water, once void of oxygen, the film disappears, dissimilar metal corrosion sets in and it eats itself away. The dissimilar metals are from the stainless steel alloy.
Yup, also have to take into account factors such as temperature etc. etc.

When used in machinery spaces such as propulsion plant, corrosion rate tend to increase as well. Even for lets say Ti-6Al-4V or Ti-5Al-2.5Sn in jet turbines for example, always a cause for concern after an event pertaining to any salt water ingestion as crevice corrosion could just set in.

Should do a time lapse on the coin since it will rust. Hourly rate interval, for a week? Heh heh!
    Only Sony device mostly, haha!

You can try. Bring many $1 coins. Put into jackpot machine.

But if you win big, don't let them pull this stunt to deny you your winnings.

Man wins 37m fruit machine jackpot... but is offered 60 and a free meal instead

Got another project to do. Maybe the person who got this finding should do. Best with a macro lens.

I will put 10c, 20, 50c and old one dollar coin into my fountain for a month, let see if they rust. My last observation of many wishing fountain's coins are they are not rusty.

Great idea, but I think daily interval for a month is better. But then camera cannot use for a month ....

Please stop testing the new one dollar coins. It'll do you no good & get rusty results but instead of doing all the testing & wasting time, just give me all your one dollar coins & you can spend the time doing something more worthwhile like transporting all your one dollar coins to me...............
    Take the shot!

    Hi diver-hloc,
I must say that using liquid laundry detergent is a rather novel way of laundering your money.
