Default seagull

oh you mean Nelson. he is now at TCW.

about K13 well maybe they were moody that day.
so don't buy from them if they don't welcome you.
But I know the elderly owner from 15 years back, so at least he entertains.

general rule is :
Never buy from a RUDE salesman no matter how much you like the product.
This applies to some of the "tourist only" shops, perhaps in Lucky Plaza or other tourist traps. They make so much ripping off tourists that they don't entertain locals who go in to bargain for low prices.

have seen some Seagulls in JB too.
but like everywhere, now cam shops sell mostly digi compact cams.
that is due to the demand from buyers and high profits for sellers
the sheer volume of digi compacts sold make them more important to the shop than than pro-level digi SLR.

I saw one in a 2nd or 3rd sty shop in City Square.
That is the major shopping complex along Jalan Wong Ah Fook, once you enter from the Causeway.

It was a gold TLR.
I think 107 model.

Never ask the price.

AFAIK, seagull TLRs do not come with a meter (been searching for a reference to ur earlier statement abt a seagull with meter. can't find...). from wat i've read, i found out only some later model rolleicords TLR come with a selenium light meter (plus some old Kiev prism viewfinder attachments).

to meter with a seagull, u can either use a handheld meter, or use a SLR with a 50mm (50mm on a SLR is somewhat the equivalent of a 75mm on a 120 TLR).

u can go to TCW to take a look? they have some used starter kits for sale there - believe its the 503CW body with a lens. u might have to go get ur own 120 film back(s) and/or prism viewfinder. the kits, IIRC, were going for ard $800+? all depends on the condition.

hassy of course the dream MF camera for the MF fans lah... but, at 2-3 times the price of a TLR.. u might find some complete hassy and/or bronica setups in Buy/Sell. check it out?

no camera, MF or otherwise, is hard to operate... as long as the user reads the manual!

last yr, i organised a small MF shooters gathering. my fren, a 35mm SLR user, borrowed a hassy from another guy the day b4. on the actual shoot, he looked at the cam, fiddle with it to learn where are all the levers and off he went! the only hitch he had was film loading - 120 film loading is not as simple as 35mm loading, as most MF users will testify!

if u think MF is hard to operate, u shld talk to some CSers who still use 4x5 cameras - ie Large Format...

the seagull comes with a small stick that has a
recommended "Sunny F16" rule/exposure guide on it : )

Thats the nearest to free meters !!!
works great on sunny days

hmm clubsnap actually censored your C_o_c_k ?
dun they know that this word is the norm with
manual shutter film cameras ...
or has everyone migrated to motordrives & digital ???

anyway, those difficulty you mention is only for individual
cameras, each camera having its own special way of operation.

same for 35mm
some load from left to right, some right to left
some also must c*ck shutter b4 retracting lens
