Default Oly c-740 to c-750 uz

Have used a c-740 for almost a year ... Just now learning to navigate the manual controlos, finding even better quality and deapth there... Just got a Raynox .66x wide converter lense to try ou t... any thoughts on that choice ??? Also because of the wide angle's size the built in flash leaves a shadow ... I'm thinking of upgrading to a 750 uz for the hot shoe as I have an old, bulkie starblitz to connect that has a focus lamp ... Also I would like to have the option of 11x14 prints ... Any advice on doing this upgrade ... I love my 740, and the 750 doesn't seem to be too far from it .... My questions come in the area of sensor size ... image quality ... (it looks like SHQ setting is only available at the 4 mp setting ... Is it, or can I still have SHQ at 2048 x 1536 ????) ...... I know this is a lot of questions but this looks like the best place to get answers ..... Good info is hard to come by .... Also I read here about firmware updates ..... What is that all about ????
Thanks ..... the poemeater

Think with the starblitz flash, you will not be able to shoot in TTL-flash mode. The C750 camera need dedicated flash to use the TTL function. Also, read somewhere (can't recall where) that flash with high voltage will damage the camera, you may wish to check the voltage of the flash first before using it on the C750.

Got to check my camera on the resolution thingy.

Just my 2 cents'.

Default Ttl

Thanks Raymond ... What would I be losing w/o having TTL while using an undeticated flash on the 750 ? Also I'm having a real hard time finding the trigger voltage of my starblitz flash model ... you have any ideas ? ... Thanks again for your input ...

Default helpfull

Thank you again .... I tried the botzilla site before and my flash was not listed ... But the miessners site was enlightening ... I've ordered a slave bracket(Sunpack) for $33.00 and will try that out with my 740 uz, as my old starblitz seems to have more than flashes under $150.00 have ... I'll see if I can make that work for now .... I've decided not to upgrade to a 750 uz yet as used ones are within $40.00 of new ones ... I'll save my money for the next generation Oly ... Something with a bigger CCD and purchase the flash at the same time .... As always you are a great source of info ... Keep up the good work for us newbies .... To be of service is a fine way to live a life ... I'll pass on your kindness to others in avenues where I have expertise ... Thanks again ..... The poemeater ...

Since you decided to spend, might as well get that excellent C-8080 or those wide zoom ones. C-750 / 740 are nice outdoor cameras, but ISO200 is very noisy. just my 2c.

the ISO200 of the C8080 or any digicams other than the DSLRs and Fuji F10 ain't that great either.

Default c-8080

Yes, I'm looking at the 8080 as the iso has two more settings short of 200 (125 & 160) I've run into many instances, especially indoors where just a little more sensitivity would have done the trick ( are they as usefull as they look?) ... Your right my 740 is a great outdoor cam ... I just wish the 8080 went to at least 8x zoom as I find that so usefull .... not just for wildlife but for candid uninhibited shots of the grandkids ... I'm hoping the slave flash bracket will get me by indoors for now w/my 740 but am worried about the wide angel shadow w/the built in still affecting my shots when the slave is added as well as all the trial and error associated with an undedicated flash .... The math and the memory will affect the artestry of the situation ... How is the picture quality of the 8080 wide zoom as compared to the quality of the 740 0r 750 ...
The DSLRs are to intimidating as well as expensive ... I'm also thinking of returning the Raynox .66 wide angle converter lens as it only makes use of 4x w/o unfixable distortion .... By the way Caussway & Tao (Photokit for $49.00) is a great program for mild 200 ISO noise as well as many other tweaks, like sharpening and shadow work, needed w/my 740uz ... Thanks for your input .... The Poemeater otherwise known as The Grasshopper ...

Maybe you can consider E300 for your candid & indoor shots.

erhmmm... if you can afford the C8080WZ, you certainly can afford the E-300 too. so the choice is clearr.
