Default Shooting Comet ISON in Singapore

Latest update (29 Nov): Comet ISON is dead. Rest in Peace.

    ****************************************

First confirmed *visual* report of Comet ISON seen in Singapore early this morning (16 Nov) by veteran local amateur astronomer Gavin!

This is his report together with a photo of the comet shot through his 8-inch telescope:

More info about hunting Comet ISON early morning tomorrow before sunrise (17 Nov): http://www.astro.sg/2013/11/comet-is...singapore.html

Some local photographers managed to shoot this comet in Singapore since last month. The comet has since grown much brighter compared to a few days ago. It is north-east monsoon season now and chances of clear enough sky is fast diminishing. And the comet is getting closer to the horizon and the bright Moon nearer to its location in the sky.

WEATHER PERMITTING, if you guys are interested to shoot this *potential* comet of the century in Singapore, next few early mornings might be the best chances. The comet will be even nearer to the horizon in December as seen from Singapore (if it survives going around the Sun!).

There are be some international competition for shooting this comet with some attractive prizes. You may google them.

So to all comet hunters in this forum, good luck and clear skies!

If sky is very clear near horizon by 6am this morning (24 Nov), Mercury, Saturn, Comet ISON & 2p/Enke may visible in Singapore! Look ESE!

Something out of Comet ISON apparently survived. Scientists will need a few days to figure this out. Stay tuned.
