If Nikon want to charge at D800 price level, at least Nikon should increase the sensitivity to -2ev, focus points can remain the same. But other than a D4 sensor (as in same pixel count only, not at least a watered down processor that gives 7-8fps), the Df doesn't have much inherited from D800 and D4. Other than better looks, it only has what D600 has but can't compare with D600/D610. Is high ISO noise performance so much better at 16mp vs 24mp, that one should give up the extra resolution (and usability at DX mode) that it is worth the extra price?

IMO, it is a half-hearted product not worth my money. Well, that's me.

This camera is as PURE PHOTOGRAPHY as any other camera or actually less than some others.

That would mean another AF module just to increase the sensitivity. Why should they do that? They either order the same one for this camera or they can simply get a completely new design. Don't expect too much from a camera maker, it's just a camera.

Yea, they wouldn't do that because it would increase their cost. The easiest way is to use existing parts available and let their marketing dept do their magic.

Compared to a D610 or D800 it is blatantly over-priced.

As a "mini-D4" it is easier to swallow, but that depends on each individual's assessment of how valuable is the ability to shoot up to ISO 12,800 comfortably in a smaller body.

As of now, internet reactions among the older crowd seem to indicate that the product may turn out to be fairly successful.

Where did you read that? I haven't seen any positive reaction so far besides the one guy here who preordered it. DPR doesn't seem to like it and the reaction there isn't positive. That doesn't really mean anything but at least it tells the reaction isn't as positive as it was when Nikon released the D800/e almost 2 years ago.

Isn't that RRP? Sounds like a bad deal.

My impressions come from other communities, and Thom Hogan has this to say:

... Also, note that Df pre-orders seem to be running higher than D600 pre-orders did last year. So there are some people buying the camera. ;~)

Yup from the title of it he still doesn't like it. And I'm not going to be into it either.

This, I like. Use manual AR3 cable release instead of having to buy another electronic trigger to plug into a socket.

Love it- so happy to skip the D7100 and go straight for FX.

Yeah, I'm also happy I skipped the J3. Without this camera it wouldn't have been possible.
