Default Need some advise on sightseeing trip at Bangkok.

    Hi, Everyone.
I'll be flying to Bangkok next month for free & easy 5 day sightseeing & shopping trip with family & friends ( 2 family ). Would like to ask the following questions to fellow Clubsnappers who have venture there before, as this will be my first time there. I'll be staying at Grand Diamond Suites Hotel ( Pratunam Area )

    1. Any recommendation for sightseeing place for taking group photos.
    2. Which telco/ SIM card to purchase for making calls & surfing Internet .
    3. I'll like to tailor some pants & shirts if time permit & any good reliable tailor to recommend?
    4. Spa or massage for family...clean type.

Thanks to all in advance for your kind advise.

Try the teochew restaurant at the Grand Diamond where you are staying + Pratunam chicken rice + satay at next stall.
Buy Happy SIM card for Thai phone calls. Very cheap.
Go to Health Land Spa for clean massage. Guaranteed no hanky panky. Few branches.
Go to the Sathorn one. If you fly SIA, they used to give special discount to anyone with SIA boarding pass.

    1) It's all about temple in bbk for sightseeing. Do a seach on these popular sightseeing temple: Wat Trimit (Golden Buddha), Wat Pho (Sleeping Buddha), Royal Grand Palace etc. All can be done within 1 day.

2)I using dtac. Unlimited data bundle for 1 week, including 100 baht of free talk time. Cost 299 baht.

    3)Not sure lol

4)So far most of the massage I went in pratunam, no hanky panky.
Foot massage cost about 100 bath and bosy massage about 200 baht.

Additional: you can plan for dinner at the famous somboon restaurant. But look out for those tuk tuk or taxi that told you they bring you to nice place for dinner. They will bring you to a restaurant that will "carrot" you haha Somboon Dee is one of them.

GPS coordinates of location. Just copy and paste into your Google map and it will show where.

I went to somewhere around there. It may or may not be the same shop. This poster was on their wall, maybe a HK or Singapore newspaper/magazine foodie recommendation.

You should also check out Kuang Seafoods. Go to the Payathai branch which is nearer to your hotel. The Ratchada branch is too far away from your hotel.

If you're travelling in big group, you may want to consider getting a local day tour.

That wantan mee looks delicious. Previously went to Pantip Plaza and did not know this was inside opposite lane.

I just got back from Bangkok 3D2N backpacking alone. If you dont mind, can give it a try to Railway Market at Maekhlong in afternoon (must before 1345!), followed by a short 10-15 mins trip to Amphawa Floating Market for seafood. Huge crowd is expected as those place is really tourist attraction.

    Hi lewissac.
Can kindly advise me, how do I get to the place that you recommend? Mode of transport? Think we would like to venture to Railway market & visit Amphawa floating market. Can I say that it will be a whole day affair.

    Many Singaporeans have eaten this.
You should have no problem eating that in Thai restaurants in Singapore.

I'm backpacking solo, my transport is kinda squeezy and shared with locals; but its cheaps and breezy .
Anyway you can head down to Victory Monument BTS and take the right staircase down. You should find there're quite some vans down there going in and out of the building. From there u can purchase a ticket to Maekhong around 70B. The van is 10 seater, so its very squeezy. The journey took about 60-90mins.

From Maekhong, you can take Songthaew (8B only!) to Amphawa (Weekend) Floating Market for 10-15mins. Usually, the peak time is in the afternoon ard 2+pm. So expect quite bit of jam.

From Amphawa, you can take the van back to Victory Monument back.

(Hint: you can also venture into the Night Market nearby Victory Monument too scretched all the way from Khaosan Road)

Take note of the timing for the train coming. I missed the first train and end up I have to wait another 4 hours.
